Message from Executive Director
Walter X. Kalman
Thank You for Advocating for Health Care
Late, last Friday we had a major, though temporary, victory in the fight to preserve health care in America. Failing to receive the 51 votes needed to pass, the Republican's "skinny repeal" of the Obamacare died on the floor of the Senate. A dramatic "thumbs down" vote from McCain spelled a major defeat for a party who's rallying cry has long centered around the ACA's repeal. NASW-NJ thanks John McCain, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins for having the courage to vote against their party on this particular, important issue.
We also want to thank you, both as NASW-NJ staff and as fellow citizens, for your noble efforts. Over the course of this fight social workers in NJ have taken important actions to impact this outcome. You have made countless calls, written numerous letters, and spent hours commuting to visit with Federal and State legislators. We're counting on your continued support as we brace for the next assault on health care. Please continue checking newSWire
™ and follow us on
Facebook for updates and calls to action.
