Guatemala Mission Trip Highlights

Belin Memorial UMC sent nineteen missionaries to San Raymundo, Guatemala, for a week-long mission trip in July. Our mission team completely built a 2-bedroom house for a family of four in three days! The team laid the foundation, framed the house, put up siding, ran electricity, installed doors and windows, and completed a tin roof. On the fourth day, the team visited a local school, Morning Glory, which was opened by missionaries to provide education for impoverished children in the area. The school began with only one classroom, and now Morning Glory has 670 students enrolled!

Thank you for your prayers while the team was in Guatemala! The team is also very appreciative of the way you supported their fundraisers so that they would be able to go. Leaders on the Mission Team are already looking forward to 2018 and how the church might be able to expand this mission to include work at Morning Glory while also providing medical missions to those in need.

Homes for Hope

The leader of Homes of Hope penned a thank you letter to all SC United Methodists for their donations of more than $165,000 to help build six homes for low-income families in the Greenville area.

Belin Memorial played a critical role in donating $7,100 to Homes of Hope raised in our Pennies for Lent collections before Easter this year!

Don Oglesby, President and CEO of Homes of Hope expressed gratitude, "THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! I promise that you have sown into good fertile soil, and together we will watch God produce a great harvest!!!"

2018 BOI T-Shirt Design
2018 Blessing of the Inlet T-Shirt designs, concepts, pictures, and ideas are needed for next year's Blessing of the Inlet t-shirt.

You DO NOT have to be an artist to make a contribution! We have a graphic artist who will help create the final design. The theme for 2018 is "Love God - Love Others," based off of Ephesians 4:32 which says "and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you."

Please send your submission to [email protected] or to [email protected] by October 1, 2017. The Blessing of the Inlet Committee will review all ideas and select one for next year's t-shirt. Be creative! Let's hear from you!
