On Sunday, July 30
th, members of the International Automotive Media Registry gathered during at the 39
th Annual Concours d'Elegance of America at St. John's for the 26th International Automotive Media Competition (IAMC).
Through peer evaluation the annual IAMC acknowledges excellence in all forms of automotive media, presenting Medallion Awards for deserving new books, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, photography, digital artwork, video, radio/audio, websites, and more.
This year, Tom Cotter and The Amelia's Founder and Chairman, Bill Warner, were awarded the Silver Medallion in the "Printed Book - Entire Publication" division for their collaborative effort, "Cuba's Car Culture." The result of six trips to the island nation, Cotter and Warner's book delves into an accurate history of Cuban passenger and racing cars.
"Our timing for the book luckily coincided with the loosening of sanctions between the United States and Cuba," said Tom Cotter, writer. "Hopefully the book will give American tourists greater knowledge of Cuba's automotive scene before taking the trip."
"I'm thankful to the International Automotive Media Registry for this incredible honor," added Bill Warner, photographer. "It's wonderful getting an award on your first book, of course partnering with Tom made it easy. This certainly sets the standard for the other books I need to write."
The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is excited to offer "Cuba's Car Culture: Celebrating the Island's Automotive Love Affair" through our online store, The Shop at The Concours. Purchasing Cuba's Car Culture directly from The Amelia's shop means that a portion of the books proceeds go directly to The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization recognized as a public charity under section 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code.
