Washington Oaks History: Did you know?

The Visitor Center at Washington Oaks was once the riverside winter home of Owen D. Young and his wife, Louise.  These former owners of Washington Oaks acquired the property in 1936, and had this cottage built in 1938. Owen and Louise enjoyed entertaining on these porches, shaded by the surrounding majestic oaks.  The Visitor Center is one of several historically significant features at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park.
