We're baaaaaccckkk! Yes, Chris and I are back in Virginia Beach and ODEC after our two weeks of New England. I got back in time for last Sunday's Gathering that was full to the brim, thanks to a baptism in the Rice / Bowles family and the other faithful members who crowded our worship space. What a glorious day of worship we had! Congratulations to young Sayla Anne Noel, who was baptized!
We really enjoyed Maine and Providence (with high temps of 72°) and the marvelous food. But you know there is always something comforting about getting home. It's not just our own bed or La-z-boy. It is also knowing we come back to our friends and to worship with OUR community of faithful folks. I hope you are invested enough in the life of the parish that you feel that same joy of returning because it truly is life-revitalizing for us.
This week is VBS and 75 life-revitalizing little kids. It takes almost as many to keep up with them. I am BLESSED every day, not only by these little voices with so much energy, but just as much by the teens and adults who make this work so well. THANKS to every one of you! Sunday I will be back in the church for all three services in the morning and again at 5:00pm for Sundays@5. Fred will be in The Gathering. We get the Genesis story of Jacob's Ladder with all its mystery and promise and introduction to a reconciliation. The Gospel is about wheat and weeds. You know any weeds that you wish would be pulled?
Saturday is the annual BEACH EUCHARIST. Many of us will gather behind Barbette Timperlake / Bob Perrine's home on the bay starting about 10:30. Sometime around 11:30 we will have Eucharist on the beach and then the church is supplying sandwiches for lunch. Bring some drinks and side dishes if you like... but regardless: COME and join us. If you don't have your directory for an address, send us an email or call the office (and put the ChurchLIFE app on your phone for full access to everyone's contact and addresses).
I am so looking forward to seeing all of you this coming weekend. Everyone can come to church with services on Saturday, Sunday morning, and Sunday evening!

Parking on Sundays
Please refrain from parking on the street. Doing so obstructs the view for people pulling out. We have ample parking in our church parking lot, as well as the parking across the street at Sentara.
Really NEEDED! OLDDO Bus Drivers
We need to recruit six (6) more drivers for the OldDo Bus
. Drivers are on duty about once every other month, and a special license is not required. The is an important ministry to our folks that reside at Westminster-Canterbury and Baylake. Contact Gretchen to add your name to this ministry.

Our new Pledge Recorder
After many years of dedicated and expert service to ODEC as our Pledge Recorder, Lynda Erickson has decided to retire. We are very pleased to report that Jo-Ann Bach has accepted the position as Lynda's successor and is continuing her superior level of professional performance on our finance team.
