Click  here for new GOLD Upgrade dates added in New Castle County as well dates in Kent and Sussex Counties.

The online two-hour course "Introducing My Teaching Strategies" is found under the "develop" tab in your online account.  The July REACH newsletter has the directions on how to get the online training on your transcripts.

You do not need to do the training in person and online.  However, if your program request follow-up onsite assessment support, one administrator and one teacher from each age group must attend a session in person.

Provider Spotlight: Primeros Pasos Celebrates New Center Opening
"Where there's a will, there's a way"

A group of caring citizens in Sussex County had a vision dating back to 1997.  They saw a need for a high-quality bilingual education child care center in the Georgetown, DE area.  After several attempts to open centers in the late 90's called "Primeros Pasos," the founders were determined to offer its services in a self-owned facility.

In 2007, Primeros Pasos purchased a parcel of land on Savannah Road in Georgetown.  With their sights on building a permanent facility, the founders began an ambitious plan of fundraising.  In the meantime, Primeros Pasos provided services for twenty children in classroom space at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  At this point, Primero Pasos began their work with Delaware Stars.

Fast forward ten years, Primeros Pasos is a "five-star" child care program and on June 23 held the ribbon cutting for its 4,000 square foot, state-of-the-art early learning center on its Savannah Road property.

At least a 100 people attended the event, including state representatives, the media, the Georgetown Mayor, and representatives from both Early Head Start and Delaware Stars.  Senator Carper spent time talking with graduates of the program who are making their mark in college and beyond.  They credited their start in Primeros Pasos as the foundation for their success.
Call to Action:  Update Info for WAGE$ DELAWARE!
As of Friday, July 21, 2017, the WAGE$® team has distributed $192,074.79! Many applicants have either an AA Degrees or a Bachelors' Degrees, or are working toward a degree. With the help of T.E.A.C.H., a lot of our early childhood professionals have, or are continuing to get a college education.

It is very important for educators to have their education updated with Delaware First.   We've learned from the WAGE$ coordinator, many educators do not have updated information on file with Delaware First and sometimes their corresponding information is not updated in the DE Stars database.  This can cause delays in processing and eligibility issues.

FREE Training Opportunity:  CARE for Families And Care Givers
Through Delaware Project LAUNCH,  Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) is being offered to parents and caregivers on Saturday, August 12th from 9am-3:30 p.m., at Hanover Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.

CARE is a trauma-informed training that provides individuals with young children (typically up to age 8) general behavior management skills designed to build positive relationships so children feel more connected to the adults who care for them and, as a result, are more likely to demonstrate positive behaviors.
