The Children's Trust Announces
Volunteers Needed for The Children's Trust 2017 Family Expo
Our FREE Family Expo is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, and we're looking for volunteers to lend a hand! Taking place on Saturday, September 9, from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition, the event attracts hundreds of child and family services exhibitors sharing vital information with approximately 15,000 visitors. The day is also marked by a slew of fun activities for kids, including interactive games, a robotics room, live musical performances, face painters, and arts and crafts, to name just a few.

As a volunteer, you'll have a great time at the event; receive complimentary lunch, refreshments and snacks; and log in community service hours (if needed). Sign up online at www.thechildrenstrust.org no later than Wednesday, August 30. We look forward to seeing you there!
New Views in
Trust Central

Trust Central contracting screens with more than one entry are now being presented as a grid, rather than as a long list of fields. The information previously entered will still be there, but the options for editing will be slightly different. This update will impact all screens that allow multiple entries (meaning they include an “Add More” option). Screens that will present this new appearance include: Participants, Sites, Activities, Staffing and Participant Outcomes.

On the current Activities screen in Trust Central (see Before, above), each entry is presented as a vertical list of fields. Entries have a “Delete” option to the right, and there is an “Add More” option at the bottom, following all of the entries.

The new version of the Activities screen (see After, above) will present in a grid, showing one row per entry. In this new format, you will see summary information in the grid and have the ability to select any entry to view and/or update the details. This new grid view makes it easier to review screens with multiple entries, allowing users to focus on one entry at a time.
Metrics Year 1 Implementation Survey
The Children’s Trust is committed to collecting external feedback in order to continuously improve our systems and processes, and we’d love your feedback on the first year of our program metrics implementation. Kindly take a moment to complete this survey, and pass it along to any staff members that have interacted with any aspect of program metrics. We thank you in advance for your time!
Summer CAT Observation Feedback Now Available!
The Trust thanks all our summer camp providers for their cooperation in completing our CAT observations these past few weeks. All CAT observations are now available in the Metrics Station in Trust Central. To support our program metrics framework of continuous learning and improvement, we encourage providers to utilize the recommendations provided to improve program quality and success. Click here to download a guide on how to access CAT observation feedback.
Parenting (PAR) Data Quality Checks Have Been Completed
As part of our efforts to ensure data accuracy, The Trust has just completed data quality checks for all parenting (PAR) programs. Please note that these are NOT formal reviews, but another way for us to make sure we’re working with the most up-to-date and accurate information possible. Contract managers will be emailing providers these reports, along with a step-by-step guide to help identify and correct any data errors. Remember, your SAMIS data must be corrected by August 15!

FREE Summer Meals for Children & Youth
Summer BreakSpot, a program that provides free meals to children and youth ages birth-18 in participating summer programs, is underway. We encourage ALL children and youth summer program providers to contact available sponsors today to secure participation at each of their program sites. Be sure to confirm available menus (hot or cold) and delivery times BEFORE making a decision on which sponsor best meets the needs of your participants and program environment.

In addition, we strongly urge providers to designate their program sites as “open sites,” where children and youth ages birth-18 living in their communities may also participate in the free meals program, even if they do not participate in provider programming. Open sites serve a critical role in minimizing food insecurity in Miami-Dade while schools are closed and are, for some children, a literal lifesaver. The Children’s Trust is also supporting Florida Impact efforts to increase accessibility to summer meals for those children who have no access to open sites, through pediatric clinics and WIC and HUB sites. Contact Christina Sudduth at csudduth@flimpact.org for more information.
