 UNITED STATES CONGRESSMAN BRUCE WESTERMAN ADDRESSES COMMUNITY BUSINESS LEADERS 
Congressman Bruce Westerman of Arkansas was the featured speaker for the Business and Government Breakfast on Thursday, August 3rd, at the Arkansas Convention Center.  The Congressman addressed issues including forestry, healthcare, federal budget, and transportation.   The breakfast program was hosted
by the Texarkana USA Regional Chamber of Commerce for members of the Chamber.   The program was sponsored by Christus St. Michael Health System, Wadley Regional Medical Center, and Farmers Bank and Trust of Texarkana.

TEXARKANA CHAMBER OF  COMMERCE HOSTS 3RD JOINT CITY MEETING 
The Texarkana Chamber shall host the 3rd Joint Texarkana City Meeting on Tuesday, August 8th 3:00 pm at the Ark-Tx Council of Government Building at 4808 Elizabeth Street, Texarkana, Texas.  The topic shall be community broadband.  The meeting is open to the public.  Presentations shall be made by Cable One, Windstream, Network USA, Texarkana Area InformationTechnology Group, Texas A&M University, Texarkana College, and the Southwest Arkansas Telephone Coop. TEXARKANA COUNCIL APPOINTS SHIRLEY JASTER INTERIM CITY MANAGER

Texarkana City Council has appointed assistant city manager Shirley Jaster as the interim manager for the city.  John Whitson is assuming a new role as consultant until March 2, 2018.  This action occurred at a  special called meeting Friday evening.

AG Paxton: Fellowship Applications Accepted Through October 1
 
Attorney General Ken Paxton announced the Office of Attorney General is accepting applications for three paid law fellowships, including two newly named in honor of Gregory S. Coleman, the first solicitor general of Texas. The application period is August 1 through Oct. 1, 2017, for one-year fellowships that begin in the fall of 2018. Applications are open exclusively to military veterans for the first 48 hours of the job postings.
