Journey of Sound
with Gabriel Harris
Saturday, July 22, 7:00-8:30pm
Seaside Studio
The world is sound. Everything around us is made of vibrations, living in concert at different frequencies, even what we consider to be the hardest matter. The sounds we hear have a profound impact on our physiology, directly affecting our mental state, and initiating waves of harmony or dissonance throughout our nervous system. Sound, songs, and music have been used throughout the ages to evoke energies and archetypes, for healing, introspection, and evolution.
Join Gabriel Harris for a journey of sound, allow yourself to be carried inward, toward your source, with tones, melodies, rhythms, and words. Enjoy the sounds of singing bowls, the kamele n'goni (African Harp), didgeridoo, frame drum, native style flute, gongs, medicine chants, and more. The environment will be meditative and nurturing, and we will also review some practices to restore balance through sound that can be done at home.
Innovative percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Harris has been touring internationally since 2004. He has performed on stage with the likes of Joan Baez, The Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana, Mickey Hart, Indigo Girls, Babatunde Olatunji, Pete Escovedo's Latin Jazz Ensemble, and many more.
Gabriel's Sacred Sound Journey incorporates his passion for music, yoga, qigong, shamanism, and Native American spirituality. These sessions employ harmonic resonance, rhythmic entrainment, archetypal invocation, and other techniques to improve self awareness and well being.
