FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS UNDERWAY THIS SUMMER

Facility improvement projects are well underway at 10 CCSD15 schools this summer. As part of a two-year plan to bring all facilities up to recommended health and safety standards, construction work will continue through Aug. 7 at John G. Conyers Learning Academy, Central Road, Frank C. Whiteley, Gray M. Sanborn, Hunting Ridge, Kimball Hill, Pleasant Hill, Willow Bend, Carl Sandburg Junior High and Plum Grove Junior High.

Crews are hard at work addressing things like bathroom renovations, structural and mechanical improvements, carpet replacement, asbestos abatement and more. Students and staff will return to refreshed and renovated facilities when school begins in August.

Similar work was completed in 2016 at Jane Addams, Lake Louise, Lincoln, Marion Jordan, Stuart R. Paddock, Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Lake, Winston Campus Elementary, Walter R. Sundling Junior High and Winston Campus Junior High.

1:1 CHROMEBOOK LAUNCH COMING SOON

Students in grades 6-8 will have additional tools for academic success this fall with the launch of CCSD15's 1:1 Chromebook initiative. The addition of district-issued devices will allow for greater personalized learning opportunities, global awareness, creativity and collaboration both at school and at home. Fifth-grade students in multiage classrooms will also be issued a Chromebook.

Chromebooks will be distributed to students on Aug. 17 and 18. Technology staff will be present at each building to facilitate the distribution and help with any troubleshooting issues.
