Children's interactive tablets now available
Playaway Launchpads offer portable, fun learning
FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA, July 18, 2017 -  Central Rappahannock Regional Library now has a new way for children to learn at home and at the library. Playaway Launchpads are interactive tablets preloaded with ad-free educational apps, books, and games, available for ages 3-5 and 5-7 for two-week checkout periods. The apps enhance skills in math, science, language learning, English language arts, critical thinking, and creativity. Launchpads are 100% safe and secure. They do not connect to wifi or request personal information. Adults can also monitor what games have been played and see which skills have been tested. Kids can score Discovery Points in each activity. With their points, they can "purchase" accessories for their own avatars.

Each Launchpad has its own theme and features apps and games that relate to the theme. The library has 23 fun themes available. For example, check out "Animal Talk!" for an animal lover, "Start With Art!" for a future artist, or "Nickelodeon All-Stars!" for learning with favorite cartoon characters.

The Launchpads were purchased with funds donated to the library in memory of Farzin Sadeghi and by author Sherryl Woods.
