President's Message                    Next Meeting is Friday July 7th 9:15 AM
Sorry I'm going to miss this meeting, but playing cowboy at the Calgary Stampede is something I've done for so long - it's just part of my life.

On the other hand, the thought that giant Sequoia trees are growing just fine in our local forests and that Picasso might have started his career throwing paint sounds a little far- fetched, but last month more than 60 members discovered...

General Meeting Speaker - July 7th
Isobel Mackenzie, BC Seniors Advocate: "We are not inclined to simply accept what others tell us!"

  - Will old age for boomers be a little more comfortable than it is now for seniors?
- Do you feel the wait times for residential care is too long?
-
What does ageism feel like?

Our upcoming (and much sought-after) speaker pulls no punches
in letting government know the state of seniors issues in BC.
Now is your chance to learn what are major seniors issues and
 to ask your questions.

July 11th: Men's Pub Lunch

Good conversation and good food at the recently renovated and very popular Black Goose: What a great way to spend some time with fellow PROBUS members.  Hopefully it will be warm enough to eat
outside in their beautiful garden.

This month's organizer is David White and you can contact him to sign up by clicking here...

Friday, July 14th  12:30  Ladies Who Lunch!

FRIDAY ON THE GREEN - Good Weather Golfing continues...
Next round is on Friday, July 14

"Friday on the Green" sure is popular.  The May 26 and June 23 rounds attracted many of your fellow members.  Robert Grose and his duffers buddies have arranged for us to get out on the course once a month for a "Nine & Dine".  The next round will be at at Eaglecrest.  This social golf is open to players of all levels, and if you're not a golfer you can just come for dinner.  Don't miss out!

Get the details here...

PROBUS OUT & ABOUT - A Tour of the John Hart Generating Station and Dam
A once-a-year opportunity:  July 9th

Here's a chance to view a massive and impressive construction project near Campbell River.
On Sunday, July 9th (not July 12 as originally planned), BC Hydro will host the third annual John Hart Generating Station and Dam community event.  All construction activity will shut down for the day while the public tours the Replacement Project site with guides.  You and your fellow PROBUS members will see the existing powerhouse, the tunnel water outlet area and the work area around the John Hart Dam
, as well as some of the unique construction equipment used on this project.

REPORT ON JUNE SPEAKER: Teri Du Temple

As those who heard Warden Teri DuTemple at the June meeting

OUT & ABOUT REPORT - PAINT SPATTER PARTY!!!
WOW!  June 3rd was a great day at the paint studio.  Our members got almost as much paint on themselves as on their canvasses.
Read more and see some photos here.

Forty-eight of our members hopped on the bus to Island Timberlands for a fascinating tour of their forestry, logging and Dry Sort areaS.  It was a never-to-be-forgotten adventure.  We even had our photo taken by the drone!

GRAND CREW (Special Interest Wine-tasting Group)  Goes to the Okanagan

If you were to ask each of the ten Grand Crew members who met
in the Okanagan for four happy days in May:  "What was the highlight
of the trip for you?"  you might get ten different answers:  It could be
the amazing 3-course chef's lunch at Backyard Farms, it might be relaxing
in the beautiful Villas at Hester Creek...
