In the Field
ROR and our partners have been very busy this summer-- check out a few of the events and activities we have been participating in!
We had a great trip out to Whiskey Island, one of the latest barrier islands to be restored by the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority
using dollars set aside
from the damages to natural resources during the 2010 oil spill.
Thank you to Terrebonne Parish for the invite and Terrebonne Levee District
for the ride!
Greater Lafourche Port Commission, along with Restore or Retreat, hosted Congressional staffers from five of Louisiana's delegation offices for "Coastal 101" and site visit to Elmer's Island to view the Caminada project and Port Fourchon-- we had a great day and look forward to doing it again soon!
Restore or Retreat hosted their Annual Meeting at Nicholls State University at the end of May. Justin Ehrenwerth, the new CEO of the Water Institute of the Gulf, was the guest speaker and shared his thoughts on his new vision and direction for the applied research institution.
Terrebonne Parish hosted their inaugural Coastal Day in June, and it was a huge success with over 700 people visiting the Civic Center throughout the day!
ROR congratulated Terrebonne Parish and Terrebonne Levee District on the success of their event in a
Letter to the Editor, and we look forward to participating in future events!
