From the President...

Summer is here and so is all of the activities associated with the warmest season of the year. Outdoor picnics, sporting events, and yearly festivals are very prominent during this time of year. 

As you know, music is also a very important part of these summer events. Performing your style of music during these events can be very rewarding to any artist as this exposure can make it possible to increase your fan base. However more importantly, it allows you to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to many new people.  I urge all of you to explore new opportunities.

Earlier this year, it was decided by our USAGEM board to make 2017 a year of replenishing. This is a biblical principal of renewing and restoration. 1 Peter 5:10 says "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you". 

During this time, it is also important for all of us to let our light shine! We have a responsibility for our light to shine wherever we are this summer. Whether it is a family picnic, outdoor concert, county fair, or even a sports event, we must spread the good news! Here are the words of Matthew 5:16. "Let your light so shine among men that they will see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven". 

Let's go and replenish USAGEM by hosting fundraisers, recruiting new members, and most of all, listening to God.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you at our upcoming USAGEM Birthday Bash on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Cedars Of Lebanon State Park! Mark your calendars and make your plans now to be there!

USAGEM has several powerful resources you can use for your music/entertainment ministry including:

1. THIS NEWSLETTER

USAGEM TODAY is sent to over 500 email addresses. In addition to our performing members, we have industry members, churches and venues. Send us your press releases, photos, calendars. We'll print them until we run out of space...and we haven't come close to that yet.


2. THE USAGEM WEBSITE

Our website offers members a page that includes space for photos, videos and songs. These pages can be used as EPKs, (Electronic Press Kits), and they are free for members. 

(On a personal note: when searching for a member's photos and information to use in this newsletter, or for promotion on posters and social media, I look to our website first.  I'm surprised at the number of our members who have 
little or no available material there.) 


3. USAGEM FACEBOOK PAGES

We have two Facebook pages:

These are strong tools that can help you with your promotion on Facebook. Our event page creates Facebook Events (a special type of "ad" for events), but also may promote other Christian events in which our members are involved. It also has a photo section to store promo photos which can be copied, pasted and shared for publicity etc.  Send us your promo photos to be added. Take a look, you may already be there!


We are planning to be present in other social media in the future.


4. OUR EVENTS

USAGEM currently has two main events in the Nashville TN area: the USAGEM God and Country Jubilee, and the USAGEM Gospel Writers Night. Contact us if you wish to participate in these.


5. COMMUNICATE WITH US

This is deserving of a separate resource heading. We don't know what you want us to know unless you tell us. Contact us, let us know how you are doing, what you need, what you would like from us. This is YOUR organization. If we don't know who you are or what you need, we can't help your ministry. Are you internet challenged? Ask us. If we don't know how to help, one of our members will. That's what we're here for. 

(another personal note: I've had members tell me that it seems as if the "same people" get all the attention in USAGEM. Those "same people" are the same people that contact us and send us information, photos, press releases. If you'd like to be one of the "same people" then be one of the same people who contact us.)


6. (MOST IMPORTANTLY) PRAYER

Please join us in prayer for USAGEM.

USAGEM Writers Night 
Special Guests must have written original Christian songs, lyrics, or musical pieces that have been recorded, broadcast, or performed extensively. Do you have work that fits that? Then please contact us for consideration as a special guest at one of our writers nights. All others are welcome to perform original Gospel and/or Uplifting songs for the open mic as time permits.  Sign up is at 6:30pm

MEMBERS NEWS

Julian and Bonnie George's "For Your Pleasure" Cd is completed.  All songs were written by Julian, except "His Eye Is On The Sparrow."  The recording  was done in Sharps Chapel, TN at Chapel Valley Studio.
 
Julian and Bonnie are looking forward to bringing  "For Your Pleasure" to the churches they'll be visiting while on tour throughout  
Upstate, NY and into Vermont. 
The tour will be this July through August. 
They would appreciate prayers from their USAGEM friends.

Rick Alan King was just notified that his song "Holy is the Lord," has climbed to number 41 in the top 100 Southern Gospel charts.
It was written by Daryl K Williams.

Millennium Music Group, a division of Wilds and Associates, has released Rick's latest song to radio "We Have this Moment, Today," written by William J Gaither. This song is getting Rick a great response in concert. 
There are tears, hands raised, and hugs.

In other ministry news, Rick along with Randy and Wendi Pierce and with special guests are still doing their "Way Beyond the Blue" tour series and are having a whole lot of fun with it. The tour has gospel and positive message country songs along with a patriotic finale.

Shelton Bissell brought his gospel sax to the Grand Ole Opry House for last month's 
"Sunday Morning Country"


Here is Shelton standing in the "opry circle," a piece of the stage from the old Ryman Auditorium where country stars such as:   Hank Williams,  Ernest Tubb,  Johnny Cash, Hank Snow and Minnie Pearl stood! 



To All Members! Remember our USAGEM Birthday Bash coming up August 13. There will be food, fun and fellowship. We are planning to have an open mic, so bring your guitars, keyboards, cds, ipads, etc. More info below.

We are a fellowship of servants using out talents to serve the                                                                 King of Kings.
