Primrose Antiques & Gifts
"Primrose is a beautiful place to dream in a happy spot"-Customer, Barbara

You know how it is when you're packing for a camping trip and it seems like it will never end? There are so many details to remember, so many trips back and forth between the house and car. And then it happens - that exhilarating moment when the packing is done and the fun begins!

That's a bit how it felt here at Primrose as we prepared the shop for summer. For weeks, we made trip after trip from our stockroom out to the shop, often questioning if summer would ever really arrive. We're happy to report that the shop is fully-stocked with a bounty of summer 'essentials' - sun and garden hats, body scrubs, soothing creams, picnic baskets and blankets, summer blouses, scarves, and beautiful vintage clothing and accessories for weddings and garden parties.

Mark your calendars!
Our next Happy Home Hour event is coming up on
Monday, August 21st, from 5:30 - 6:30 pm
The demonstration starts at 5:30 pm but you are welcome to arrive early,
mingle, shop, and enjoy snacks and refreshments.

The topic for August's event will be:
'Summer-Into-Fall: Decorating Tips for Porches, Entryways & Mantels'

If you'd like to be added to our Happy Home Hour mailing list, please send an email to: [email protected] and simply say 'Sign me up!'

For now, we wish you a summer filled with many happy, relaxing moments. So, slip on your sandals, pack your sun hat, and swing by for a visit. We'd love to see you!

"Ask John!"

John loves hearing from his customers and do they love to ask him questions! Each conversation features an actual question submitted from someone like you!

Q:  Hi John, Recently I had a red puffy rash on my face after pulling weeds. My doctor said a man was hospitalized for handling the same plant I did. It looks like a rhododendron leaf, bright green, shiny, has a long tap root and is difficult to pull out. Do you know the name of this noxious plant? -Marci

A:  Dear Marci, I honestly can't think of any shrubs causing dermal toxicity. By your description, it sounds like Daphne Laureola: similar leaves and taproot. In absence of seeing the flower or bringing in a leaf it is hard to guess what it is.
I would consider bringing a sample to WSU Research Extension near the airport. Maybe they can identify it for you.
Let us know what you find out.

Reply:
Thank you, John! I googled Daphne Laureola and it looks like the plant I have. -Marci

Greenwood Garden Club
Garden Clubs Meet at the Nursery

Surrounding yourself with like-minded people and things you love is a quintessential experience in life.  It gives us inspiration and impetus to do more of the same.  Garden clubs have known this for years.

Christianson's invites your garden club to host its next meeting at the Nursery! Choose from two lovely venues at no cost: The Schoolhouse and rose garden create a living English garden scene with many spectacular roses blooming throughout the summer and several picnic-styled tables on which to enjoy lunch.  As the Greenwood Garden Club experienced, the Greenhouse, with it's restored antique architecture amidst vibrant annuals and perennials and hanging baskets is an enchanting experience to discuss club events and host a light bite.

You are sure to be inspired by both environments!  Call, or email to reserve space at the Nursery for your upcoming garden club meeting:  (360) 466-3821
