Seminar on Challenges Churches Face Today
Dr. David Kim will be guest speaker on the challenges and issues that churches face today in a seminar being held by St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 85 S. Constitution, Aurora, on July 15 and 16.
Kim is an LCMS pastor serving as president and lead pastor for Glocal Mission, a church planting and training ministry in Houston, Texas. One session is in English, one in Spanish. Get the details at NIDnews.org/challenges-facing-churches.
Call for Artists
In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Good Shepherd Institute of Concordia Theological Seminary (CTSFW), Fort Wayne, will sponsor an art exhibit in conjunction with its 2017 conference. 
The theme of the exhibit is based on the great Solas of the Reformation: Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Sola Scriptura (Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone).  All artwork submitted to the exhibit should in some way reflect one or more of these cornerstones of the Reformation. Organ Recital
On Sunday, July 30 at 4 p.m., Michael Scott Giuliani, a student at Concordia University Chicago, will perform an organ recital in fulfillment of the Masters in Church Music at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 260 N. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge. The program is based upon hymn tunes and Gregorian chant melodies, following the cycle of the liturgical year. For information, call 847-823-6656
Ride For Hope

Members of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Schaumburg, Illinois, will help host the annual motorcycle Ride for Hope on Sunday, July 30. It starts in St. Charles and ends at St. Peter where a pig-roast and celebration will be held. Any riders are invited to participate and help promote Ovarian Cancer Awareness. Register by July 23. In celebration of Walther Christian Academy’s Homecoming, a variety of alumni activities will be offered during the day including the Erin Stanley Memorial Softball Game, building tours, lunch and the football game. 59th Convention of the District - Updates
Nomination forms have been sent to all congregations and are to be returned by September 30. The convention is Friday and Saturday, March 9-10, 2018, at Concordia University Chicago, 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest.

Institute on Liturgy, Preaching and Church Music
The Just Live by Faith: Make It Plain in Sermon, Service, Song is the theme for the 2017 Institute on Liturgy, Preaching, and Church Music to be held at Concordia University, Chicago, July 25-28. There are still scholarships available for pastors or musicians from congregations with 300 baptized or under that reduce the registration cost to half. Click here for information.

Director of Music, Arlington Heights
Living Christ Lutheran Church, 625 E. Dundee Road, Arlington Heights, is currently looking to hire a part-time (12-15 hours/week) Director of Music.  The Director of Music is responsible for leading the congregation in music Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. and for all midweek Lent and Advent services. The director will also oversee the choir. Piano and organ skills are highly preferred. The director should be open to playing a variety of musical styles, from contemporary to traditional Christ-focused music.
