Upper Kirby Construction
Northern Half of Westheimer Nearing Completion
Westheimer Reconstruction:
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Westheimer work continued this week despite some wet conditions between Buffalo Speedway and Kirby Drive. Efforts are currently focused on the northern half of the street where new storm and water infrastructure is being installed and new concrete is being placed.

This week crews completed placement of concrete from Eastside to River Oaks Boulevard and have begun pavement preparation through the intersection. Waterline is going in just west of River Oaks this week as well. It is expected that the contractor will be ready to place concrete through half of the River Oaks intersection next week as well as the area in front of St. John's School where waterline work is currently underway.

Crews have also nearly completed lateral storm sewer line work through Bammel and Sackett. Crews have completed work through the Sackett/Philfall intersection and will continue next week with storm sewer work on Elbert. Once all underground work has been completed, workers will overlay the entire roadway. During construction, two-way traffic will be maintained, although on street parking will not be available.

Bissonnet Reconstruction:
Kirby to Buffalo Speedway

Work on Bissonnet between Kirby and Buffalo Speedway was stopped late last year due to a contractor dispute. Work began between the Kirby intersection and Dincans on the north side of the street. Upper Kirby retained a second contractor to complete work on this area. This contractor completed this work just prior to the holidays. The remainder of the work was bid last week. The apparent low bid was Reytec Construction Resources. Construction  is estimated to begin  in July.
