We All Shine On

      "Well we all shine on, like the moon and the stars and the sun"-John Lennon.   How do we make meaning in our lives as liberal religious seekers?  "Why in the world are we here?"  What calls us forward to seek the spirit, build community and change the world?  Why march in the 4th of July parade as Unitarian Universalists? Why strive for solar for all?   Can we all shine on?
This Week in Religious Education-- Sources Summer
This week in Religious Education we are exploring the words and deeds of prophetic men and women. In preschool we will hear the story of Charles Darwin, observe bugs dead and alive, and adapt a creature to it's environment. K-8th graders will lift their voices at our UU Summer Camp Singalong. Middle and high school youth groups are on summer hiatus.

Drumming Workshop for the 4th of July Parade
It was so much fun last Sunday, we are doing it again this Sunday. Come learn some short and simple rhythms to play in the  4th of July Parade.  Drums and small percussion instruments will be provided, all ages welcome. Colleen Haas will be our instructor. Gather near the west wall of the Meeting Room (Sanctuary) after service this Sunday, July 2, at around 11:30 a.m.
UU Humanists & Freethinkers Meet at New Time  in June & July
The UU Humanists and Freethinkers will meet at 11:45 a.m. in Room 208 instead of 12:45 p.m. to accommodate the one service only schedule through July 30th.
New to Unitarian Universalism or This Church? 
Come to the First Steps class this Sunday, July 2.  First Steps is a 40-minute class that provides a brief introduction to Unitarian Universalism and this congregation. Free childcare is available in Room 108. No registration is required, just come to Room 112 at  11:35 p.m.  This Sunday's class will be facilitated by Ann LeDuc, Connections Coordinator. If you have questions, please contact Ann at  [email protected].
Last Sunday to register for the
Exploring Unitarian Universalism Class July 9 and 16
The Exploring Unitarian Universalism class is for anyone who wants to learn the basics of Unitarian Universalism and this church.  We ask for completion of this class before becoming a church member, but all are welcome.  The next Exploring UU Class will be held on  July 9 and 16  from  2-4 p.m.  in the church library. Please plan to attend both Sunday sessions, since different material will be covered in each session.  Register before  July 3 by signing up at the Welcome Table in the foyer, or emailing Ann LeDuc at  [email protected].  Free childcare is available if requested in advance.
4th of July Parade Information
Everyone is invited to represent our church in the Bloomington   4th of July   parade.  Wear a red, white, and/or blue t-shirt, bring your water bottle (and maybe sunblock and hat) and meet at the orange parade staging area at the corner of Dunn and 6th Streets before  8:45 a.m .  Ann LeDuc and Phil Cooper will meet you there with signs, banners, flags, bubbles, and musical instruments.  The closest parking is at the Poplars parking garage on 6th Street. Some roads will be closing at 8:00 a.m. and all roads near the staging area will be closed at 8:45 a.m. Let's tell Bloomington about this wonderful church community!

Women's Alliance Meets July 6
   The Women's Alliance meets the first Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. The meeting begins with a brown bag lunch.  Drinks and dessert are provided by the hosts of the month.  The program begins at noon, followed by a business meeting.  Please enter through the court yard doors.
   The July 6th program is "Opportunity House" with Sandy Churchill.  The
hosts will be Anna Wiley and Sharon Wiseman.  All are welcome.
