St. Paul's Church |
June 30, 2017 |
"Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." (Acts 2:46-47)
I keep thinking about that first Sunday. That first Sunday when we'll be together worshiping in the new Flamevine church. It will be
transcendent! As I shared with the congregation last Sunday, right after we acquired the old Ocean Oaks Dental building in July of 2014, I was quoted by a piece by Ray McNulty in 32963 that I thought we would be worshiping on that site "in twelve months." Well, it's taken much longer than I imagined! But the church is far more beautiful than I ever dreamed possible.
But now that the alabaster gem is in its final 12 weeks of preparation, and the
reality of that first Sunday of worship is upon us. Can you believe it? The Flamevine Opening Committee - Robbie Walker chairperson, Denny Arnheim, Dean Sparks, Betsy Whisman and Deacon Jon Day - has been preparing what we are calling a "Season of Celebration" which will introduce the community to our new location in a way that communicates our love for Jesus, His Word, and the people He died to save. On 999 Flamevine Lane, souls will be changed for eternity. This is our
raison d'etre-our life's purpose.
The Season of Celebration will include events that focus on our three pillars of our ministry - children, healing and missions. This Season of Celebration will include about five events beginning in October, and culminating in a Service of Consecration by Bishop Ron Kuykendall on December 3
rd. Details of these events will be forthcoming soon, but essentially
these will be ministry events which already play a key role in the life of a very vital congregation. Like the early church, we will simply be
meeting together and breaking bread "with glad and sincere hearts." We will be living out in a more public way the ministries which already characterize who we
are. And in the process, we'll invite others to join us in this greatest of adventures.
We want everyone to be involved in the process. Very soon, you will be contacted to see how you might volunteer in the celebration. Thank you for all you've already done to make this season possible, and all that you will do to share the precious gift that we've been given.
Gratefully in Christ,
Pr. Jon

Sunday Morning Bible Study
Join Dean Sparks for the adult Bible study at 9:05 AM at the Garden Club for
a study of Paul's Letter to the Galatians. This letter is simply packed with Paul's theology and is a condensed version of Romans with inclusions from Acts, Corinthians and other letters. So it is a study of the entire Gospel message and the early history of the church.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
The Wednesday evening Bible is taking a break. Look for updates later.
Men's Ministry - "Promise Keepers
"
Come join us for "Promise Keepers" men's ministry which meets at C.J. Cannon's at the Vero Beach Regional Airport, 3414 Cherokee Dr., Vero Beach, 32960, every Friday 8:00 - 9:30 AM. We will share breakfast together and read the inspiring "Game Plan for Life" by Joe Gibbs, 3-time Super Bowl and NASCAR Champion. Very informal. No homework required. Great friends, food and fun!
The "Skimmers" middle school group, ages 10-13, will meet again in the fall. They will resume on August 30th with "Movie Night." Watch for details.
