Horse of the Month
April

April is the newest addition to the RHR herd!  She came to us in May of this year, and since then, we have fallen in love with her friendly personality!  April is a 14-year old welsh pony who we are leasing for the summer.

She is very friendly and loves to have her nose scratched.  Since coming to us, she has made good friends with Small Fry, who she loves going into turnout with.  Make sure to say hi to her in her stall next to Small Fry!

Staff Member of the Month
Britt Falvo

Britt has been an staff member at Rocking Horse Rehab since September 2012.  Prior to that, she was a volunteer for a few years, coming to help when needed.  Britt has been riding at Essex Equestrian Center for many years, and enjoys riding the program horses in her spare time.  She even takes lessons on our own Que Boy!

She recently finished her junior year at Montclair State University, where she majors in Family and Child Services.  Britt hopes to be a teacher after graduating college, and is looking into getting certified as a therapeutic riding instructor.

Thank you Britt for your many years of work with us!

This summer, we are opening an enrichment program!  The enrichment program will include arts and crafts classes with Fairytale, Inc., martial arts with Del Martial Arts, music programs with The Jam Cats, and grooming with our own Small Fry!

The program will run from August 21-24 at 9-12.  If you are interested in signing up one or more of your children, please contact us today!
Volunteer of the Month
Melissa

This month, we are honoring our volunteer, Melissa.  Melissa volunteers during the week with our social worker and physical therapist.  She sidewalks for sessions, and also helps our clients in the barn.  Melissa has been volunteering with us for about a year!  She currently works as a small animal veterinary technician.

In August, she will be leaving us to attend veterinary school.  We wish Melissa the best of luck in her studies and know she will be a great veterinarian one day!

Grant Money Available!

RHR is a recipient of a generous grant from the Italian Welfare League, an organization which assists children of Italian descent who are ill or have suffered an emotional trauma. Since 2001, they have raised and distributed over $1,500,000 to hundreds of children and organizations which provide services to children.  Their grant helps us to provide services for children of Italian descent who otherwise would not be able to afford our services.

Their recipients have many different diagnoses, such as brain injuries, autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome.  For more information on how to receive a grant for our services, please email us at:  [email protected]
