L.A. Cash for College Scholarship Reception

 
On June 8, 2017, L.A. Cash for college recognized some of the region's most motivated and deserving students. Thirty students were awarded a $1,000 scholarship for participating in L.A. Cash for College events and taking important steps to pursue education beyond high school. Thanks to all who attended and supported this event, and congratulations to all of this year's scholarship recipients - we are pleased to be investing in your future, and are confident that you will succeed.

GOGO Charters National Scholarship for Immigrants and Refugees
Description:  As a shining example of the American Dream and a gesture of his gratitude, Armir Harris, GOGO Charters founder, now wants to give something back. GOGO Charters proudly offers the National Scholarship for Immigrants and Refugees.
It is Harris' goal to give hope to future refugees, immigrants and first-generation U.S. citizens in search of the American Dream. This application consists of a short essay, video, or audio piece explaining how this scholarship would help you achieve your goals. Please be sure to fully complete the application online in order to be considered for the scholarship. 

Eligibility: Applicant must be a f
irst-generation U.S. citizen (born outside the US), refugees, or immigrants (legal documentation is not required). Must also be a h igh school senior at the time of the application with a GPA of 3.4 or greater and must be planning to attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year college/university as a full time student.
Amount:  $10,000    
Community Contribution Scholarship
Description:  This scholarship is open high school students that recognize a need or problem in their community, have determined a way to address rhea need or solve this problem, have developed an action plan, and have worked to put the action plan in place. 
Eligibility: Applicant must a high school students and a legal resident of the United States
Amount:  $5,000   
Elastic Band Co. Scholarship
Description:  This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are a member of a minority group that is underrepresented in the fields of fashion and/or entrepreneurship or have a documented disability. Applicant must be planning to pursue a career in fashion and/or entrepreneurship.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or current college student and a member of a minority group (i.e., African-American, Hispanic, Native American, Alaskan Native, Pacific Islander) or have a documented disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Amount:  $1,000
Fall Fly-in Program at Carleton College
Description:  Every fall, Carleton College sponsors a fly-in program for underrepresented senior students called Test of Carleton (TOC). Students who are accepted will be able to visit Carleton College, with all expenses paid, during the month of October. This is a great way for students to get a real feel for what Carleton is like, both on an academic and social level. Students must compete an online application by September 1 to be considered for the program.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a high school senior. Applicant must complete an online application, as well as submit a transcript, senior schedule, and stargazed test score. TOC is open to all, but the selection committee will prioritize students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
