Collinsville Hot Returns for a 3rd Year
Now Seeking Sponsors and Business Expo Vendors
Collinsville Hot is a sizzling village and river celebration providing a full day of healthy, fun and inspiring activities that include entertainment, food, crafts and a special "water fire" performance on the Farmington River - all to bring neighbors and visitors together to celebrate our community.

The event kicks off Saturday morning at 9am on July 15, with an outdoor community yoga class. By noon, the streets will be filled with visitors enjoying live entertainment and various exhibitions of artisans, crafters, food vendors and local businesses. At sunset, a spectacular fire parade and water fire dance performance on the Farmington River will thrill the visitors.

The brainchild of the Collinsville merchants and Canton Main Street Inc, Collinsville Hot seeks to attract residents and visitors from a wide geographic area to enjoy the unique qualities of Collinsville.

"Collinsville Hot will draw attention to the broad range of experiences that make Collinsville a unique destination," said Shawn Cole, owner of Yoga Center of Collinsville and one of the event organizers. "The natural beauty of the Farmington River, the historic mill, the Rail Trail, the restaurants, the entertainment and the art create a very special place - especially in the summer."

Collinsville is already a hub of activity with 12,000 daily vehicle trips on State Route 179 plus hundreds of bicycle and pedestrian movements per hour on the Farmington River Trail. The river is a highly popular destination for eco-tourism, fishing and kayaking. Historic attractions, such as the Collins Company and surrounding village that has been preserved as it was in 1900, bring thousands of visitors to Collinsville each year. The area has also become an entertainment destination offering multiple restaurants, music venues, and a theater company.
For more information or to register as a Sponsor or Business Expo vendor, visit wwwCollinsvilleHot.com or call Vendor Volunteer Ann Rousseau at 860-331-1859 or email [email protected].

Gallery on the Green presents:
57th Anniversary Show
Friday, June 30th - Sunday, August 6th
The Gallery on the Green has its 57th Anniversary Show - an exhibition of fine art by the over 100 members of one of Connecticut's longest running artist guilds.  It is housed in a schoolhouse (circa 1872) with three spacious galleries and an outdoor sculpture garden.  The anniversary show includes a stunning array of paintings, sculpture and photography.

Also on exhibit is a solo show by Sharon Dougherty entitled, "Into the Wood."  Dougherty uses oil, glue, acrylic, pastel and watercolor, unusual surfaces and found objects in her mixed media art.  She draws upon her experiences over many years photographing and closely observing tree surfaces and has found inspiration from the important mixed media artist Takesada Matsutani.

The opening reception is a wonderful opportunity to view the art and meet many of the artists in person. Please join us for the reception and summer party on Saturday, July 8th from 6:00-9:00 pm.

Chamber member Lisa Sharp will be exhibiting her f ine art photography series 'Water Mirage' and 'Blooms' at the Canton Public Library, 40 Dyer Avenue, Canton, from June 1 - July 31. Lisa creates nature based photography in an abstract form, seeing the geometric and organic shapes, repetitive patterns, gradation of colors and contrast of shadows that are created naturally around us, often removing the subject matter from the common everyday viewpoint and exemplifying it in a way that will mystify the viewer.
