Parks & Recreation
City Spray Pads, Pools or Parks

Residents can beat the heat this summer at City pools and spray pads or enjoy some shade at a neighbourhood park. In Mississauga, there are 26 spray pads that are open all summer long starting at 9 a.m. The City also operates 11 indoor pools that are open all year long as well as seven outdoor pools that are set to open on June 24. If you're looking for some shade, head out to one of Mississauga's scenic parks and trails.

Monitoring Emerald Ash Boarer (EAB) Population

Starting June 14, Forestry staff started placing traps on treated Ash trees around Mississauga to monitor EAB population. The bright green triangle traps will remain on the trees until the fall.  The traps are sticky and smell like stressed Ash trees which attract and trap EAB beetles.  When the traps are removed, adult beetles will be counted and analyzed to track changes in the EAB population throughout Mississauga

Safe City Mississauga is currently looking for Nominations for their 3  Hero   Awards !

Safe City Mississauga is asking residents if they might know a youth, individual (teacher, coworker, friend, etc), or organization who has gone above and beyond to help others in their community (at school, extra-curricular, as a hobby, through volunteering, etc).

Some examples might include:  Starting an awareness campaign, directing a fundraiser or food drive, involvement with natural disaster relief, or through motivational speaking, etc.

They have 3 Hero Awards they are looking for nominations for:

  • Youth (Under 24 years old)
  • Individuals (Ages 25+)
  • Organizations
The winners of the  Hero   Award  will be honoured with a plaque at our Annual Crime Prevention Conference in November which garners attention from Peel Regional Police, members of the community, and media coverage. This is a really great opportunity to publicly recognize an individual or an organization for their commitment to their community and keeping Mississauga a crime-free city for all.
