Annual Fundraiser Results

Our annual fundraiser Whiskers, Wags & Win was a big success! Held on March 30, 2017, at Lakewood Yacht Club, the event raised $23,040.85, which will help us continue to save more lives and make a difference for homeless pets in our local community.  Many thanks to all the supporters, donors and attendees who participated in the success of this event!

F eral Cat Day Results

Our April 29th Feral Cat Day at Animal Alliance was a big success with 81 feral/community cats sterilized, vaccinated and returned to their colonies! Many thanks to the dedicated volunteers who worked so hard on this TNR event and to the Petco Foundation for supporting SCP's animal welfare efforts to help reduce the number of homeless litters that end up on the streets or in shelters.  For more information about why trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs are important to your community please visit  https://www.alleycat.org/our-work/trap-neuter-return/

Help SCP Create Change with Amoco!

Anyone applying for a loan (including refinancing existing loans!), other than a home mortgage, with Amoco Federal Credit Union can "pay it forward" by indicating they wish to support Second Chance Pets when they apply for a loan. Amoco will then donate 1% of the loan to SCP.  You can learn more about the program by clicking  here.

Welfare of Our Furry Friends ("WOOFF Program")

One of the reasons some animals are surrendered to shelters are because the owners cannot afford the proper veterinary care for their animals, especially in times of unforeseen financial circumstances of owners or unexpected injuries to their pets.  Thanks in part to the receipt of a grant from Houston PetSet, SCP was able to create the WOOFF Program. The purpose of the WOOFF Program is to help pets who need medical care and also to assist owners who need help having their pets spayed or neutered. The typical grant is between $100 to $500. Decisions are based upon several factors including medical urgency, financial need and available funding. In order to be eligible to receive a WOOFF grant, an owner must demonstrate financial need, live in the SCP service area and be willing to speak with a SCP representative regarding any additional questions or concerns. All funding is provided directly to the participating veterinary clinic and no benefit dollars are paid directly to any pet owner.

If you know of someone who might need this type of assistance you can direct them to the WOOFF application which can be found  here.

Help SCP Save More Pets in  2017!

We look forward to continuing our primary mission of providing  unwanted  pets a second chance through foster care and pet adoption programs with the help of our generous supporters. You can help with our impact in 2017 by Adopting, Fostering, Volunteering or Donating - for more information visit our  webpage As always, donations are greatly appreciated so that we can continue to help with special  needs medical cases like Cambrea and Billy Bones!

Cambrea, the siamese kitten, was sitting in a high volume shelter with 4 fractures in her rear legs (most likely caused by a dog attack) so her situation was urgent when SCP stepped up to save her life - she is now safe in foster care and recovering well.

Billy Bones was impounded at a local shelter with a ruptured right eye and  heart worm  infestation, which put him at dire risk - after being rescued by SCP he had surgery to remove the eye and successful treatment to cure his heart worms.
