Your Co-op is a member of the National Cooperative Grocers (NCG) an organization consisting of approximately 150 independent food co-ops across the US. NCG is a cooperative just like the Syracuse Real Food Co-op. In 2004 the merging of regional Cooperative Grocers Associations throughout the United States formed NCG.

So on this Independence Day 2017 we can celebrate our country's independence and are also proud of being able to be owners of an organization that is an independent among independents.
We're stronger together! Co-ops are strong and resilient because they are formed by people united with a common purpose, and there isn't a force in history more powerful than that has proven to be.
NCG's virtual chain of co-ops are preforming well across this great land. This would not be possible if it weren't for the group of food co-op leaders who, trusting the cooperative model, formed NCG to increase their collective strength and resiliency while retaining autonomy and independence.
The positive impacts of cooperation do not stop at economic achievement. NCG and their co-ops have achieved remarkable results by working together to empower sector-improved operational success, a vibrant and expanding co-op economy, the promotion of co-op values and protection of shared environment.
This progress represents why we work in co-ops, why passionate owners founded stores, and why so many shoppers value and trust the co-op's authenticity in a changing marketplace.
