Fireworks Are Illegal
The Burlingame Police Department and Central County Fire Department would like to remind residents and visitors that all fireworks, including "safe and sane" fireworks, may not be used in Burlingame by order of Burlingame Municipal Code 10.48.010. Violators will be prosecuted.

Auto Burglary Prevention Tips
Auto burglaries have increasingly become an issue for communities throughout the Bay Area. If everyone followed the simple tips listed below, we could practically eliminate them completely in our community:
- Lock your doors and keep all windows completely closed. Many auto burglars specifically target unlocked vehicles and will walk past locked and secured vehicles.
- Do not keep valuables in your vehicle. Burglars can't take what isn't there.
- Keep all property out of view, even low value items such as gym bags, power cords, etc. These types of items in plain view indicate to burglars that there may be valuable items inside the bag or stored within the vehicle. Place property out of view or in your trunk prior to parking in your final destination. Some burglars watch as people park their cars to see where they may hide items of value.
- Park in busy, well-lit areas or in your driveway or garage at night. Burglars don't want to be seen and don't want to draw attention to themselves by walking up driveways.
- Be alert for suspicious subjects, vehicles, and activity taking place around you; and don't be afraid to call the police to report suspicious activity. Alert citizens are responsible for the majority of arrests made in crimes such as burglaries, thefts, vandalisms, etc.

The Growing Problem of Electronic Waste

There's a dirty secret about electronic waste. In California, even in Silicon Valley, it's often shipped to developing countries, where its hazardous components contaminate water, soil and air. As the volume of e-waste increases, due to shorter product life cycles, how can we make sure it's recycled responsibly? Two speakers will offer ideas: Tim Goncharoff of Santa Cruz County, which recently passed strict e-waste legislation; and James Kao, founder of GreenCitizen, a sustainable e-waste recycling firm based in Burlingame.

1:00 p.m. - Meet at the Burlingame Avenue Railroad Station (290 California Dr.) for a 45-minute tour that describes the three-decade growth of Burlingame Avenue, from wealthy equestrian playground in 1895 to a bustling suburb after the San Francisco Earthquake in 1906.
3:00 p.m. - Meet at the Easton Branch Library (Cabrillo Ave. at 1800 Easton Dr.) for a 45-minute tour. Walk with us through a small residential section of North Burlingame history, exploring the development of the area from Rancho Buri Buri to Blackhawk Ranch to Town of Easton.
