We Speak Translate Project
The We Speak Translate project is a first of its kind collaboration between Google Translate and the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) utilizing the Google Translate app for refugee resettlement and newcomer inclusion in communities.
Training Goals and Benefits:
- Encourage welcoming organizations and communities that value diversity, inclusion, and integration
- Become familiar with the Google Translate app (free, downloadable app for smartphones and tablets)
- Establish a common platform for communication with immigrant and refugee newcomers while their English language skills develop
On June 14th, a group of Kardel staff welcomed Kate Longpre, Community Integration Coordinator at the ICA and participated
in the 45 minute training session to learn lots of new tricks to improve communication. It was a fun afternoon of laughter and learning!
If you'd like to learn more about We Speak Translate Training you can contact Kate at the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA)

Mel and Shannon enjoyed a weekend getaway to the Prestige Resort in Sooke. They let their Home Share Providers Jenn and Katie tag along.
They swam in the pool, hung out by the fire pit and enjoyed the beautiful view of the ocean.
The best part was all the delicious seafood and desserts! Travel is their passion.
Barbara and Trevor recently moved to Victoria and were very excited to participate in Operation Trackshoes. As you can see, they had a great time and received lots of ribbons from the event!
