Harwood Road Improvement Project Has Begun

A street improvement project began earlier this week on Harwood Road, between Davis Boulevard and Boulevard 26. Motorists should expect various lane closures on this section of Harwood through the end of July.

The first phase of the project includes repairs and replacement of deteriorated portions of the curb, gutter and subgrade. This will be followed by milling of the old asphalt surface and  placement of a new asphalt surface. Please slow down and watch for workers when traveling in this area.

Questions about street improvements in North Richland Hills may be directed to the Public Works Street Division at 817-427-6460. More information can also be found at www.nrhtx.com/streets

Annual Water Meter Replacement Program

The City of North Richland Hills has contracted with U.S. Bronco Services, Inc. to replace 1,200 of the more than 20,000 water meters throughout the city. You may notice a Bronco Services truck in your neighborhood. If your meter is one of those being replaced, you should receive a door hanger notifying you in advance of the work. The Bronco Services worker will also knock on your door prior to beginning the meter replacement. For a typical meter replacement, water to your home will be turned off for no more than 20 minutes.

The meter replacements should be completed by mid-August. This work is part of an annual water meter replacement program, where old meters are replaced to ensure the accuracy of meter readings. With today's technology, the new meters being installed are expected to last 20 years. If you have any questions please contact North Richland Hills Public Works at 817-427-6440.

Adoptable Pets

Be Mosquito Free

If barbecues, picnics, or other outdoor fun are part of your July 4th plans, remember to apply insect repellent. Using insect repellent  every time you spend time outdoors, day or night, is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your family from mosquitoes and the diseases they carry.

You should also remove stagnant water where mosquitoes breed from flower pots, trash containers, children's toys, clogged rain gutters and other places around your property. Place environmentally friendly Bti briquets in stagnant water that can't be drained. Any amount of standing water can give mosquitoes a place to lay their eggs.  For more information visit, www.nrhtx.com/mosquitocontrol or call Neighborhood Services at 817-427-6650.
