Tri-State Chess
Championship @Bryant Park XII
July 9, 2017
Dear Chess Enthusiasts,

The end of the school year is here and it's time to start taking advantage of the good weather.

Our final Championship tournament of the school year will be played outdoors at Bryant Park at the beautiful Fountain Plaza!

The site at Bryant Park is very popular due to the large open space. Two restaurants flank the playing area and parents can relax in the outdoor arena.

Our last Bryant Park Championship Tournament was very well attended.  While the Under 2200 section was small, the Under 1800 section was well attended and we awarded almost $800 in cash prizes in that section alone!

Bryant Park supplies a number of umbrellas to protect players from the sun, but not every player can be protected.

At the June tournament we supplied sunscreen and over 50 handheld umbrellas to help protect people from the sun.  We also moved many tables into shady areas until no one had any sun issues.

The higher sections continue to have longer time controls (see below), while the Beginner, Novice and Elementary remain G/30 (or G/25; d/5) for the younger players.

Our Beginner section (K-1) remains unrated by the US Chess Federation.

Any players participating in the Beginner section do not have to pay USCF dues and do not need to be a USCF member. Clocks will not be used in this section
and it is not necessary to notate either.

All other sections will remain USCF rated as always.

We have over 100 giant awards to give away, so come join us for a good time on July 9th!

Hope to see you there!
