Thanks You For Your kindness.
Thank you for your kind notes, cards, calls, and hospital visits during John's recovery.  When one has no immediate, close family, it is comforting to know there is the Aldersgate family who will step in and give support.    Lovingly, John & Geri Martinsen.

Sermon
"This is a Day of New Beginnings "

Scripture Lesson
Isaiah 52:6-7

This Sunday
This Sunday we welcome Rev. Laura Baumgartner as our Associate Pastor.  Laura brings some wonderful experiences, passions and gifts to us.  She knows Bellevue well as having taught at Robinswood and now The International School.  She has been a lay person and leader at both University Temple in Seattle, and Riverton Park in Tukwila.  As such she knows the ins and outs of church leadership, has immense administrative skills and experiences, and understands the complexities of ministry in a variety of settings.  This Sunday we will celebrate all of that as we share worship together.  Very much like David Lutz 's account of the installation of Bishop Elaine Stanovsky at Annual Conference, we will also be offering various gifts as symbols to Pastor Laura as she begins ministry here.  She will be receiving a Bible, a container of water, anointing oil, a chalice and paten, a basin and towel, a globe, and a pastoral stole.  Each are symbolic of what pastoral ministry is and can be and I'll be talking briefly about each and what they mean as pastors and as those seeking to be in ministry together.  Please come and welcome her and her family to this remarkable congregation.  To prepare please read Isaiah 52:6-7.

Kitchen Range Hood
Are you renovating your kitchen? The church has a very nice stainless steel residential kitchen range hood for sale for a donation.  It is a 48-inch Broan Elite 61000 series, model #614804 and is practically brand-new. The church is upgrading to a commercial kitchen range hood to meet the requirements of the bigger ovens.  If you are interested, contact Rich Detering or Dave Carver.
Resource Library News
We are very grateful to the anonymous donor of books from the United Methodist Women's reading list!  These books are displayed on the library table and cover the categories of Social Action, Nurturing for Community, Education for Mission, and Spiritual Growth.
Membership Rolls
It is time to update the church membership rolls.  Every year Betty Fredeen, our Membership Secretary, reviews the church membership and mails out letters to members who, according to our records, have not attended Aldersgate or contributed in the last two years.   The purpose of the letter is not to push people away but to let them know we are interested in them, to see if they want to remain members, and to keep our membership records accurate.  We need your help.  The members listed below did not respond to our letter or the letter was returned by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable.  They will be removed from church membership in the near future if we do not hear from them.  If you know them, please encourage them to reply to the letter or contact the church office.  If you have any information about them, (current contact information, did they moved away, are they attending another church, etc.), please notify Betty Fredeen (425-746-5113) or the church office.

These people were mailed two letters over the last two years. They will be removed from membership at the November 2017 Charge Conference unless we hear from them.

These people were mailed one letter in 2017 and will be mailed another in 2018.  They will be removed from membership in 2018 unless we hear from them.
