March is Women's History Month
 March is Women's History month (WHM) and the Spring
Equinox. The changing season is upon us and the liveliness of the earth is starting to awaken. At CSVANW, we are excited to highlight some amazing Native women making a difference honoring WHM! Throughout the month, we hope that you will reflect on the #StrongNativeWomen of your family and how they have contributed to our Native Nations.
Follow our weekly post for empowering stories of resiliency and inspiration. Join us in sharing your mentor, leader or role model that influences you or talk about what inspires you the most about them. Handmade Ceramic Tile legacy Wall
THE RESILIENCE THAT IS US!
CSVANW received our first batch of tiles from our members and community partners! They are beautiful with the inspiring messages of hope and love! The vivid colors really stands out and it will be a wonderful addition to our office! During the CSVANW Open House, our volunteers installed the tiles on the wall. Many of the Open House attendees also join in and helped set it up.
Celebrating and honoring 20 years of service to New Mexico's tribal communities, CSVANW recently moved to new offices to accommodate a team that has doubled in size. To commemorate and honor the resilience, strength and spirit of our Native women and children who have been affected by violence- CSVANW is working to install a legacy wall. Our
new address is-
4600 Montgomery Blvd, Suite B 202, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
CSVANW is inviting families, communities, agencies and organizations to individualize a tile in honor of a Native woman or child affected by violence for the "Resilience That is Us" legacy wall and become a permanent part of CSVANW's new home and its 20-year legacy.
CSVANW has only 47 ceramic tiles left-
that are 6x6 in size, satin glazed and fired.

CSVANW attends Heart of Justice event.
CSVANW attended the
New Mexico Women.org
event "Heart of Justice", on February 15, 2017. It was a wonderful night supporting newmexicowomen.org team and their much anticipated report coming out soon. Our very own CSVANW member, Tewa Women United was in attendance and their Executive Director, Dr. Corrine Sanchez spoke eloquently about Dr. Martin luther King's words about love.

CSVANWTeam at Indian Day @the Legislature.
Indian Day at the Legislature is always a wonderful event to attend. The #CSVANWteam had a chance to meet and greet with many of our pueblo council members and community partners.
Cabinet Secretary Kelly Zunie had a inspiring line-up of tribal leaders speaking, youth, and artists advocating for collaboration, inclusion and celebrating Indian rights. Following - Indian Day at the Legislature, the Indian Affair Department held a wonderful luncheon at the Santa Fe Indian School with Pueblo dancers.

CSVANW presents at the OVW New Grantee Meeting!
Cheyenne Antonio, CSVANW Program Assistant, presented to many of our Tribal Coalitions across the Nation, on "Resource Extracting Industries and Violence Against Native Women" at the Office on Violence Against Women: New Grantee Orientation. The gathering is taking place in extraordinary times, and Cheyenne spoke some truth to the
#NoDapl protectors, bordertown violence and women empowerment!

CSVANW holds it's first Open House!
CSVANW Open House was so amazing! When we first opened our new offices, a traditional blessing was offered. Our offices have now become a testament to the support from our community - Furniture and items were donated and our community has blessed our offices with their love and laughter. Thank you to everyone that came to our offices. Our team was gifted flowers and welcomed words of wisdom from our Coalition friends and family. We look forward to the many years of creating and advocating change for our Native women and children in this beautiful space

CSVANW HAS NEW OFFICES AND A NEW ADDRESS!
The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC) was home to the #CSVANWteam for nearly 15 years!  But over the last year, the team has doubled, requiring a larger space. We will surely miss the singing, dances, Harvest Cafe and IPCC staff members. Many of our staff played softball and volleyball on the IPCC teams.
As we settle in our new offices, a little closer to the Sandia mountains, we are profoundly grateful for the new office space and upcoming endeavors to come for the year 2017! With a new larger space and limited funds to fill our office space, we are asking our community partners to help us make our space beautiful. We had a chalk board purchased on our Amazon wishlist just recently - thank you for your donation! Just last week, we were able to purchase the chairs with our own funds. Our offices are slowly but surely coming together. Our Open House event had a beautiful turn-out.
Thank you for coming out and supporting CSVANW!
Please help make our CSVANW wishlist become possible for our #CSVANWteam. They deserve a beautiful space to work so hard in.

Keioshiah Peter, strives to continue the resistance and decolonial work in sexual and reproductive justice in the Native Nation and surrounding areas through the Rez Condom Tour and partnering with with the Native Youth Sexual Health Network and Young Women United. She enjoys arial yoga and loves to travel home to see her amazing siblings. Stay-tuned for our upcoming

Mescalero Violence Against Women Program
The Mescalero Violence Against Women program offers support and educational services to victims of domestic violence, community members, tribal community programs, and tribal administration. The program offers
free c
ounseling
to victims of domestic violence and children witnessing violence. The most unique element of the program, are the culturally sensitive practices that are based on
Apache women's beliefs and values
. Their services and educational outreach on topics such as, bullying, elder abuse, teen dating violence, sex trafficking, and domestic violence is free to the tribal community. Great work ladies!
