Please hold Linda and David Friedman in your thoughts and prayers. Linda's mother died last week.  Please also hold Elaine Fredericks in your thoughts. Elaine was in a car accident last week and is currently recuperating at her cottage. Family and friends have been very supportive.  The memorial service for Esel Rasor  is this  Friday, June 30 at 2:00pm . Please hold John Rasor in your hearts and prayers as he recovers from recent surgery.  "To live in hearts that love is not to die."   If you have a concern about a member of our congregation, please don't hesitate to contact Rev. Two Different Roads - Opening Reception this Friday!

The Williams Gallery welcomes Norma Mooney, a china (porcelain) painter and watercolorist. She is excited to give viewers a chance to see these two different art forms together in her exhibit, "Two Different Roads." Ms. Mooney's show runs through Monday, August 21. Opening Reception is this Friday, June 30, 5:00-7:00pm.

Summer Books Sales Begin

Once again, we will be selling books in the Susan B. Anthony Lounge before and after Sunday service.  Please bring in books to add to our selection.  No text books, magazines, home improvement or technical books, no children's books or coffee table books.  Needed are fiction, history, biographies, mysteries and light reading for the summer.

Final Tally for Rummage Sale  

The final tally was $9,503.85 which included $1,096.52 from used book sales through the year (thanks to the salesmanship of Ronna Abbott).  We didn't make $10,000 but we kept lots of "treasures" out of the landfills.  Thanks again to everyone who helped make this effort a success.

Thank You for Your Generosity!

Two weekends a month, our plate collections go to a community organization outside our church. On the other weekends, the collection goes directly to support our church budget. This fiscal church year, we donated $21,761 back to our greater community (excluding the Greater Good fund). On June 4, $415.44 was collected for Planned Parenthood. On June 11, $730.25 was collected for Baden Street Settlement. On June 18, $413.60 was collected for our church. On June 25, $306.10 was collected for No One Left Behind.

Police Accountability Explained       

So what is the fuss about police accountability? Is it really a problem here in Rochester? Don't we already have a civilian review board?  Find answers to these questions at the Black Lives Matter/Youth Lives Matter Task Force presentation done in conjunction with Roc/ACTS on Sunday, July 9 , 11:15am (following the church service) in the Youth Room. Aging Gratefully and "Blessings in Disguise"

Aging Gratefully is a monthly discussion group open to anyone aged 60 and above that meets on the second Thursday of every month from 1:30 to 3:00pm to discuss a topic chosen by the group. We will meet Thursday, July 13 to discuss "Blessings in Disguise: Changes we had to make which had good outcomes."

Why March in the Pride Parade? 

We say we want to have visibility in the community.  We say that we want our UU values known in these times of uncertainty. Here is one way we make it happen.

March with us in the Pride Parade, with other UUs, behind our banner on Saturday, July 15, 1:00pm.  We are registered under the name GUUSTO (Genesee UU Societies Together). Just ask the folks with the clipboards where GUUSTO is gathering; they will give you directions. Even if you have never marched with the group before, come join us as UUs and continue to take this stand for social justice.  Registration for the parade is paid for through a collaboration between our church and First Universalist Church.  All UU churches are invited to participate. For pre-parade fUUn, sign up to meet at the float at noon to decorate by emailing Sheila Schuh.

Food Cupboard Reminder

Basic food requests are for soup, tuna, canned fruit and vegetables.  Add to that canned milk, cereal, crackers, baby food, and toiletries, and you have many choices of something to contribute to church weekly. For questions or more information, email  Alison Wilder .

Listen to Your Deepest Self - Golf in the UU Open

We all know that there is no greater deep yearning than to get out on the golf course with some friends. Well, maybe that isn't true for everyone, but for some of us, hitting that golf ball and bantering with our fellow golfers yields great pleasure. If you are one of those, stop by the table in the Lobby this Sunday, July 2 or next Sunday, July 9 and sign up to play in the UU Open. Connect with some people you may not have met before. Enjoy the pleasure of always hitting from the fairways in a scramble format. Enjoy dinner and some fun awards together after the round. For just $45 if you walk, or $50 if you ride a cart, you can enjoy all of this on Sunday, July 16 starting at 1:00pm. Environmental Climate Task Force  Green  Tip of the Week

It hasn't been extremely hot around here so far this summer but when it is, consider the effects of air conditioning on our environment. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that about 6% of all electricity produced in the United States is used for air conditioning, at a cost of $29 billion. About 117 million metric tons of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere from all this electric cooling. Leave windows open on cool nights, close window blinds to keep the interior of your house shaded, and set the air conditioner a few degrees higher. Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose and keep cool naturally.
