Take Advantage of Parking Technology in Birmingham

Parking Widget
The City's new parking widget tells drivers the number of available spaces at each parking structure in real-time. Now, visitors can go to the city's website at  www.bhamgov.org or the Birmingham Shopping District's website at  www.ALLINBirmingham.com to access the mobile-enabled feature. Drivers simply click on the green and white parking logo at the top right corner of the screen and gain access to current parking space availability and Google maps to the city's parking structures.

Smart Meters

All parking meters located in the City of Birmingham now offer payment by credit card as an option.   The new parking meters still have a coin slot for payment using nickels, dimes or quarters. T he City of Birmingham is absorbing the processing costs associated with use of credit cards. Parking rates will be the same regardless of payment type - coin or credit card. The new meters will accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.    Prefer to pay using Parkmobile?  Another great option!  The new Liberty meters will reflect Parkmobile payments on the meter and on your mobile phone.   Also, the new vehicle detection sensors will allow parking patrons to utilize mobile phones, computers or vehicle apps to locate convenient parking close to Birmingham destinations for business, shopping, dining or recreation.
For more information regarding these enhancements, contact  [email protected] or call 248-540-9690.

Reminder: Changes to Retail Flower Watering Program

In 2006 the City of Birmingham began  watering  merchants' private flower displays. At that time, there were only 12 concrete planters and few hanging baskets throughout town. Over the years, the flower program has expanded to more than 32 planters and 200 hanging baskets, in addition to more than 100 flower troughs around the tree wells. In addition to the increasing demands throughout the City, several merchants request specific, customized care for their private flowers and plants that the City is not able to provide. Due to the expansion of the public flower displays, please remember the City is no longer  watering  merchants' private flower displays. Hanging baskets and City planters located outside of your store will continue to be  watered . Thank you for understanding.
Park SMART This Summer

During the hot summer it's important shoppers find a quick and easy parking space! Please remind your employees to park in the parking structures, and encourage your customers to use Parkmobile.

Parking Decks

Birmingham's parking meters are intended for short term use. When your employees use metered spots, it makes it hard for the quick shopper to find a spot and less likely they'll stop at all. The parking decks are designed for people who plan to be in town longer, whether it's employees or visitors.

Parkmobile

All meters in Birmingham are Parkmobile enabled, which means your customers can easily use their cell phones or smart phones to pay for parking. Learn more here: www.parkmobile.com.
