Can't Get to Lake George this Summer?

Exciting news! Many issues of the Lake George Mirror from June 1891 through December 2013 are now digitized and accessible free of charge on the New York State Historic Newspapers web site. 

These volumes are held by the Adirondack Museum, who made them available for digitization.
Forever Curious

Forever Curious is a labor of love by a group of librarians and educators seeking to curate resources and lesson plans for people of all ages.

Currently, they have curated resources for Green Lessons, Emergency Preparedness, Math, and Business Education.

CDLC Members Select Two Trustees 

CDLC is pleased to welcome Board of Trustee members, Andrew White, Library Director at RPI, and  Jen Cannell, newly named Library and Arts Program Manager at Capital Region BOCES School Library System, who will serve five-year terms.
Discounted Access to RDA Toolkit

Once again, it's time to sign up for the discounted RDA Toolkit. CDLC members are eligible to receive a 15% discount through their affiliation with ESLN.

For libraries implementing or planning to implement  RDA , the  RDA Toolkit  is an essential resource for navigating from AACR2 to  RDA

Collection Highlight:  SUNY Adirondack's Wing Roberts Collection

SUNY Adirondack Library's Hill Collection received the contents of the Wing/Roberts collection from Kit Cornell, a seventh-generation descendant of Abraham Wing, founder of the village of Glens Falls, in August of 2015. The collection contains documents, letters, transcripts, photographs and glass plate negatives related to the Wing/Roberts Family of Glens Falls, NY. 

New York Heritage Digital Collections is a research portal for students, educators, historians, genealogists, and everyone else interested in the people, places and institutions of historical New York State.  So far, CDLC members have added over 23,000 items to the database.

Union College to Receive Conservation Treatment Grant

The Permanent Collection at The Mandeville Gallery received the award for the  conservation of a selection of Theodore Olivier's 1850's string geometric models.

The Greater Hudson Heritage Network grants are awarded for prioritized, urgently needed conservation of objects that, once treated, will impact public interpretive programs, exhibitions and education.

UAlbany Librarian Wins Award

Karen Kiorpes, Preservation Librarian at University  at Albany, is the recipient of the 2017 Paul Banks and Carolyn Harris Preservation Award. This award is given annually by the  Preservation and Reformatting Section (PARS) of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS).

Kiorpes' consistent leadership, service, advocacy and dedication to preservation education embodies the qualities of the Banks Harris Award.  In their letters of support, colleagues repeatedly describe her as a "tireless advocate" and an energetic and welcoming leader.

NNLM RD3: Resources for Data-Driven Discovery

NNLM RD3: Resources for Data-Driven Discovery is a a new web resource created by the National Network of Libraries in Medicine for librarians, information professionals, library and information science students, and interested individuals to learn about and discuss research data management throughout the data lifecycle.

The Library of Congress  is making 25 million records in its online catalog available for free bulk download.  This is the largest release of digital records in the Library's history.
