The race will begin at Canal Park, continue south on Main St. to Bartges St., then enter the Towpath Trail. The route will then return to Canal Park using the same route.

June 30-July 4
Starting Thursday, June 29, 9 a.m., Main St. will be closed between State and Bowery St. Main St. will reopen early morning Wednesday, July 5.
July 13-15
Starting Wednesday, July 12, 9 a.m, Main St. will be closed between State and Bowery St. Main St. will reopen early morning Sunday, July 16.

UPDATE: SR 59

Kenmore Construction, G. Stephens and the City of Akron continue work along Dart and Rand Avenues. Both lanes on each of the streets have been re- opened to traffic, but there may be occasional shifting of traffic as work continues to be completed.

Traffic continues to be maintained on W. Mill St. over SR 59 towards Rand Ave., but has been shifted over onto the right side as other work is being done in the area.

***The exit ramp from SR 59 E to Downtown/Cascade Parking/Market St. will remain closed until July 7, 2017. All traffic is being directed off of SR 59 E at the Cedar St./Exchange St. exit ramp and onto Dart Ave. Detour signs have been set up to direct people north on Dart Ave. towards the Downtown exit.

The SR 59 W entrance ramp from Rand Ave./W. Cedar St. will continue to remain closed until July 28 for demolition and re-construction. Traffic is to continue south on Rand Ave. to the next entrance ramp which is located south of Vernon Odom Blvd.

This work is being done in preparation for the final removal of SR 59 between W. Exchange St. and W. Market St.


UPDATE: Main/Howard/Perkins Intersection
As part of the Oak Park Renewal (SR-59) project and the Old Main Sewer Separation project, Kenmore Construction, G. Stephens, H.R. Gray and the City of Akron have closed the intersection of MLK Jr. Blvd. / N. Howard St. / N. Main St. for the relocation of existing utilities and the lowering of the entire intersection.

This area will remain entirely closed until July 7, at which time, it will be re-opened for the north and south bound traffic as remaining work at the east and west sides of the intersection continues to be completed. This intersection is planned to be fully re-opened to all traffic by early August 2017.

For N. Howard St., southbound traffic will be detoured using E. Tallmadge Ave., N. Main St. and E. Market St. Local southbound will be detoured using W. North St. to W. Market St. The northbound traffic will be detoured using E. Market St., Broadway, N. Main St., E. Tallmadge Ave. to N. Howard St. For MLK Jr. Blvd., east bound traffic is being detoured using the Cedar St./Exchange St. exit from SR-59 E, Dart Ave., W. Market St., Summit St. to Perkins St. West bound traffic will continue to be detoured using N. High St., E. Market St. to Rand Ave.

*Access to Furnace Street for the Northside District businesses will remain
available from N. Howard, N. Summit and E. North Streets.

W. Bowery St, Exchange St. to State St.
Considine Professional Building Addition
Welty Building Co. and Akron Children's Hospital will be closing one lane in each direction on W. Bowery St. between W. Exchange St. and W. State St. beginning March 6, 2017 and lasting approximately 18 months. Traffic in both directions will be maintained, but shifted in order to provide a patient drop-off area during the construction of the addition to the Considine Professional Building, which is located at 215 W. Bowery St.

W Exchange, Water St. to Bowery St.
Considine Professional Building Addition
Welty Building Co. and Akron Children's Hospital will be closing one through lane and the metered parking along the north side of W. Exchange St. between Water St. and W. Bowery St. beginning March 6, 2017 and lasting approximately 18 months. A minimum of two lanes of traffic will be maintained as this work and other projects are being completed in the area.

UPDATE: W. Exchange Cedar Signalization
SET, Inc., DLZ and the City of Akron continue work on a road diet/signalization project which is located on both W. Cedar and W. Exchange Streets between S. Portage Path and S. Broadway. This project is currently planned to be completed by December 29, 2017.

The contractor continues work along the south side of Cedar St. between Dart Ave. and Broadway. All traffic is being shifted into the left 2 lanes through this stretch which is currently planned to be completed by Friday, July 28th.

On Wednesday, June 7, the contractor started work along the south side of W. Exchange St. between S. Portage Path and Rhodes Avenue. Traffic will be maintained in the left lane during this phase which is expected to be completed by August 4th.

The contractor is also working on the installation of signal poles and traffic signals on both W. Cedar and W. Exchange Streets.

**They will be working at the intersection of S. Maple St. and W. Cedar St. beginning on Monday, June 26 and completing this location by Friday, June 30. Traffic will be maintained during this time, but there will still be some temporary lane closures and shifting of traffic.
