Summer is definitely here and with the rising temperatures in the WAMPO region so too are the incidences of vehicle theft.  In 2015, nearly three-quarters of a million vehicles were stolen in the United States. Vehicle theft is a billion-dollar crime, with the cost of stolen vehicles coming in at more than $5 billion in 2015 alone - up from $4.5 billion in 2014.

To help drivers keep their vehicles safe, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is resuming its annual vehicle theft prevention campaign during July.

2017 REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Every year WAMPO coordinates an annual count of bicycle and pedestrian activity across 35 different sites in Park City, Goddard, Andover, Mulvane and Wichita to name a few.

The data collected during these counts helps to estimate the number of people and locations people bicycle, walk and run.  Once collected, the data is used to plan the location of future bicycle and pedestrian investments.

This effort would not be possible without the commitment of our VOLUNTEERS each year!

Volunteers are needed to manually count bicyclists and pedestrians at several locations in the WAMPO region on the following dates:
  • Thursday, September 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, September 23rd from Noon to 2:00 pm
Click HERE to register now or for more information about previous year counts visit our website at http://www.wampo.org/Work/Pages/BikePed.aspx
