A Prayer for Lafayette Urban Ministry
A Special Prayer for LUM's 45th Anniversary

Two members of the LUM Dream Team have recently written A Prayer for LUM.

In celebration of the 45th anniversary of Lafayette Urban Ministry, Dr. Jim Davidson & Rev. Don Nead collaborated to write this prayer as a way of creating a meaningful reflection for the friends, volunteers, staff and supporters of LUM.

The prayer not only focuses on the Mission of LUM but also reconnects LUM with its long history of social justice including advocacy for public policy that supports and strengthens families.

We are grateful to Dr. Davidson & Rev. Nead for their wisdom and inspiration.
Please take the time to read the entire piece, A Prayer for LUM.

Linda Hicks - Familiar Face in a New Role
New LUM Good Samaritan Program Director

Linda Hicks started with LUM in 2005. She will continue to serve as the Office Manager and assist with LUM Camp — but now will also be the director of the LUM Good Samaritan Program. As program director, Linda will be responsible for the emergency assistance fund and fund distributions as well as the LUM ID Clinic.

Linda grew up in West Lafayette; graduated from Harrison High School; and currently lives in West Lafayette with her husband and daughter. She earned a BA in Early Childhood Education from Purdue University, West Lafayette.

Worship in the Streets Gives $496 to LUM
Churches Worship in the Streets of Downtown

This past Sunday seven downtown churches participated in Worship in the Streets. The congregations gathered with excitement to share God's love and to welcome individuals seeking a church home to join them in the future.

The worship event included refreshments and a free will offering for Lafayette Urban Ministry -- and the sponsoring churches donated $496.27 to LUM. The participating churches are Brown St. United Methodist Church, Congress St. United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, First Christian Church, St. John's Episcopal Church, Trinity United Methodist Church & University Church.

Thank you to all of the participating churches for the continued support of the mission of Lafayette Urban Ministry.

Volunteers Needed - Lawn Mowing
Do You Love the Outdoors - LUM Needs You

LUM now has four properties that need regular lawn maintenance. It's a perfect opportunity for individuals who love the outdoors and want to serve. It's only one hour a week, so please consider volunteering. LUM has all of the equipment you need. You and your friends just need to show up and cut the lawn.

Please share this with your friends, church members, organizations & colleagues.

Please consider volunteering an hour of your time to mow the lawn at one or more of the LUM buildings. If interested, please email lum@lumserve.org.
