New York Times: U.S. Cities, States and Businesses Pledge to Measure Emissions
A coalition of American states, cities and businesses that have pledged to stick with the Paris climate pact will team up with experts to quantify their climate commitments and share their plans with the United Nations, vowing to act in spite of the Trump administration's exit from the accord.
President Trump said last month that the
United States would withdraw
from the Paris deal, isolating the United States on the world stage. At a Group of 20 summit meeting last week, world leaders
agreed to move forward
collectively on
climate change

Tampa Bay Reporter: Sewer Plant Expansion Ahead of Schedule, Kriseman Says
As this city heads into the heart of the rainy season, memories of last year's sewage spills are at the forefront of political debate and residents' concerns that another spill could occur.
Mayor Rick Kriseman did not rule out that possibility during a press conference this morning (July 11), but he assured residents that renovations to one of the city's sewer plants is ahead of schedule. That expansion is designed to increase the capacity of the system making it less likely that a major spill will happen once work is complete. The work at the Southwest Water Reclamation Facility, 3800 54th Ave. S, is expected to be complete in August or September.

The Weekly Challenger: City response to NAACP's letter to Kriseman
As Director of Education and Community Engagement for the City of St. Petersburg, two budget commitments highlighted in Mrs. Scruggs' editorial fall under my scope of responsibility.
Accurate information is critical, so please note the following corrections.Recognizing that access to quality education early in a child's life is a key factor of success, Mayor Kriseman made a $100,000 request in the Fiscal Year (FY) '18 budget to fund initiatives that support Early Childhood Education. This $100,000 will bring the total investment for FY18 to $250,000, via the carry-forward of funds unused in FY17.
