Serving the Community
Dear Volunteer:

Since 1917, Catholic Charities has supported all who turn to us for help through services touching almost every human need. This month we celebrate the amazing role volunteers play in caring for the Community! 

Volunteers serve the community in many ways! They plant, garden, and weed at our various community gardens to provide fresh produce to our food pantries. Volunteer groups provide a fresh coat of paint and organization skills to our clothing rooms throughout the Archdiocese.They provide hope for the community by mentoring youth.

Fundraising Events

Join us on the green for one of our upcoming golf outings! Volunteers are needed to help with golfer registration, course monitoring, and contest hole staffing, silent auction and raffle ticket sales, and setting up and breaking down the event.

Volunteers are needed with registration, raffle ticket sales, guest services, and setting up/breaking down event. This black-tie optional event has become one of Chicago's premier social events, and this year's gala will feature the music of Super Diamond!

Community Garden: Help provide produce to the food pantry and senior meals. Volunteers water, weed, and harvest throughout the summer and fall. Call to find a date and time that works for you

Youth Mentorship Program:  Make a difference in your community! Mentors are needed to work with boys in eighth through tenth grade from the Back of the Yards/New City community. Mentors must be at least 21 years of age, have reliable access to transportation, and pass a background check. 


Food Pantry Assistance: We need strong volunteers to help unload our food pantry food delivery from the delivery truck and bring into the food pantry to benefit our Des Plaines office.

School Supplies: Every year, Catholic Charities supports low-income families in the Lake county area by collecting and distributing donated School supplies. For children experiencing poverty, school supplies are a luxury that many go without.  We desperately need donations of backpacks and school supplies to meet the needs of the families we serve.
Youth Mentorship:  Make a difference in your community! Mentors are needed to work with girls and boys in Lake County ages 9-12. Mentors must be at least 21 years of age, have reliable access to transportation, and pass a background check.
