Dear Parents / Guardians, Students, Staff, and Friends of the Sanborn Regional High School Community. Here are your latest important announcements from Sanborn Regional High School:

Summer Update
A Message From Principal Brian M. Stack

Dear Sanborn Community,

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer vacation thus far. My wife Erica and I have kept our "Stack Pack" busy with lots of summer activities. Our oldest two boys, Brady and Cameron, have participated in week-long cub scout and band camps. Liam, Owen, and Zoey have had lots of play dates with neighborhood friends. Later this summer, I will be spending a couple days in Washington, DC working with a team at the National Center for Learning Disabilities on policy recommendations for schools looking to develop personalized learning models in their schools.
Erica and I have decided to turn this into a week-long road trip for the family with stops at Hershey Park and New York City. If anyone has any family-friendly NYC suggestions, we are open to suggestions as we have never been with the kids!

At Saborn, our custodial crew has been very busy with their annual cleaning and maintenance to our facility. They always do such a fantastic job and I marvel at the pride and respect they have for their work and our facility. I have been working with my staff to fill several vacancies in both teaching and administrative positions. To date, we have hired people to fill three of four open math positions, two open science positions, two open assistant principal positions, 1 secretary position, and 1 guidance counselor position. We still have an opening to fill for a part-time art teacher, 1 full time math teacher, and several paraprofessional roles. Although change can be hard, change is also an opportunity to bring in new ideas, new energy, and new skills into our school community. I am excited by the potential that each of our new hires will bring to Sanborn.

In early August, you can expect to see a more detailed newsletter from our school with specific back to school information such as schedules, plans for the first few days of school, and other important announcements. For the time being, I hope all of you enjoy the summer months!

Yours,

Brian M. Stack

Back To School Shopping? Don't Forget About Our Dress Code!
A Message From Principal Brian M. Stack

Are you getting as frustrated as I am that stores are pushing the back to school sales earlier and earlier into the summer? Since I know that some of you may be starting to take advantage of back to school clothing sales in the coming weeks, I want to draw your attention to our school's philosophy and beliefs around dress code. This logic applies to both boys and girls alike!

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Students at Sanborn Regional High School are expected to dress in an appropriate manner during the school day. We use the expression, "Dress for Success!"

Here are some things that students should keep in mind when shopping for new school clothes:
  • DRESS FOR SAFETY: Students are expected to follow all school rules governing safety in specialized programs that may require the wearing of protective clothing, safety glasses, proper foot protection, or other similar requirements. This includes areas such as the shop, the gym, and other specialized programs.
  • DRESS WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY: Through their choice of dress, students must display respect for themselves, their school, and their community. The wearing of clothing which is unduly revealing or attire which detracts in any way from the educational mission of the school is unacceptable.
  • AVOID THIS KIND OF DRESS: Clothing that promotes drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or violence is unacceptable. Clothing should not be offensive, nor should it include vulgar pictures or words.
  • HATS ARE OK: The wearing of hats is permitted only in the hallways, cafeteria, and other non-instructional spaces in the school. They are not permitted in classrooms.

Our staff reserves the right to ask students to change any attire that does not meet our "Dress for Success" requirements. We also reserve the right to send home any student who is dressed in an unduly offensive or inappropriate manner which disrupts the educational process.

Thank you for taking these points into consideration as you start thinking about your attire for the new school year!
SRHS Hires Two New Assistant Principals
A Message From Principal Brian M. Stack

Principal Brian M. Stack would like to announce changes to the administration team at Sanborn Regional High School for the 2017-2018 school year. These changes come as a result of two things. First, Assistant Principal / Director of Curriculum Michael Turmelle has accepted a position as the K-8 Curriculum Director for the Sanborn Regional School District. Second, Assistant Principal Ann Hadwen has accepted a position as a school administrator in the Londonderry School District. Their departures have left two critical roles to be filled on the administration team at our school.

Mr. Robert Dawson

Mr. Robert Dawson has been hired as the new Assistant Principal / Director of Curriculum. He comes to Sanborn with previous teaching and administrator experience in both the Timberlane and Windham School Districts. Most recently, he was the Principal of Windham High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Sports Communication from the University of New Hampshire and his Masters of Teaching from the University of New Hampshire. He has also completed a certification program as a School Principal at Rivier College and has advance coursework as an Educational Specialist from the University of New Hampshire.

Mr. Steven Krzyzanowski

Mr. Steven Krzyzanowski joins the Sanborn team with previous teaching and administrator experience in New York City and Denver, Colorado. Most recently, he was the Assistant Principal of Student Services / Dean of Students at The Academy Carter School in Westminster, CO. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from SUNY New Paltz and his Bachelor of Science in Operational Meteorology from Mississippi State University. He earned a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of the Southwest and a Masters in Education in School Administration from Canisius College.

Please join me in welcoming both of these educators to our Sanborn family!
Remarks From the New Interim Superintendent of Schools
A Message From Interim Superintendent Thomas Ambrose

Dear parents, guardians, staff, and students,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Sanborn School community.

I live in Saco, Maine with my wife Rebecca and two sons, Noah, age 12, and David, age 8. In addition to my work as an educator, I am a professional musician, and enjoy snowboarding and mountain biking. My wife is a middle school music teacher. We have worked in education for 17 years. I hold a Master's Degree in School Counseling, an Advanced Certificate of Graduate Study in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance. I have been very fortunate to also study reading and writing instruction at Columbia University's Teachers College for the past seven years.

I am looking forward to implementing an Entry Plan over the next 4-6 months. I will be meeting with school board members, administrators, members of the central office staff, members of the teachers union, parents, and community members so I may become more familiar with the Sanborn Regional School District. In these meetings I will ask each person to share his or her perspective on the district by answering the following questions:

  1. What is your background?
  2. What brought you to your current role in the organization?
  3. What is working effectively in our district?
  4. What areas could be improved in our district?
  5. Do you have any ideas for solutions?
  6. Is there anything I need to know that has not been discussed?

In addition to these individual meetings, I will be attending staff meetings and conducting observations in schools. I am excited to learn about our district and I am looking forward to supporting staff, students, and parents as we strive to meet the needs of every student.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.

I hope you have a wonderful summer. I look forward to the start of the 2017-2018 school year!

Sincerely,

Thomas J. Ambrose

Do You Have Unwanted Clothing?
Please Use Our Planet Aid Donation Boxes, Located in the Staff Parking Lot

When you drop your unwanted clothing off in these bins, the SRHS PTO gets paid based on the weight of the clothing! This is a really easy way to help our school. All PTO proceeds go directly back to programming and scholarships that directly benefit our students.

Did you know? From April of 2015 - May 2017, this fundraiser has helped us raise nearly $2400.00 for the PTO. Help us double that number by sharing this opportunity with your friends, your family, and your neighbors!
