Shark Tank reunion

One year later, our Community Shark Tank teams and Sharks met again to discuss the new and innovative programming that launched this year. Everyone was delighted by the success of the Shark Tank funded programs and we look forward to diving back into the tank next spring!

JFCS SOAR group is flying high this summer!

SOAR, the over-21 special needs social group through JFCS of Southern New Jersey, had a great tie-dying event last week. Perfect weather for dinner, outdoor tie-dying, and charades! A huge thank you to all who helped organize this fun activity. We can't wait to see how the shirts came out!

Rabbi Lewis Eron reflects on his 24 years at Senior Housing

In his 24 years as the director of religious services at Lions Gate and as the Jewish community chaplain, Rabbi Lewis Eron has impacted the lives of thousands of people throughout Southern New Jersey. He has counseled seniors and their families, often during difficult periods in their lives. He has created educational programs and led Shabbat and holiday services for residents at Lions Gate, Saltzman House, Dubin House, and Gesher House, all part of Jewish Senior Housing and Healthcare Service (JSHHS), an agency of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey. He has visited the sick in hospitals, helped the addicted and the poor.

BookMates is looking for volunteers - our requests from schools continue to increase!

BookMates is an interfaith literacy program that provides services to elemtary schools that receive Title I funding throughout Southern New Jersey. The mission of BookMates is to provide a nurturing, one-to-one literacy experience for at-risk children, encouraging them to love reading and providing them with a foundation to succeed in school and in life. Leaning is a primary pathway to a better life for individuals, families, and communities.

If you would like to read to elemtary age children one hour per week throughout the school year, please contact Rhonda Shevrin at bookmates@jfedsnj.org

Support the JCC and #JCCBubbesBrisket

The Katz JCC is well on their way to raising $10,000 to support the senior meal program, but we still need your support! The JCC is home to the largest congregate meal program in Camden County, and the average participant is 82 years of age, widowed and living alone. Statistically, older adults living alone, regardless of income, are malnourished because it’s difficult to be motivated to cook for one.

Please help the Katz JCC continue to offer its flourishing adult meal program by donating to their crowdfunding campaign, Bubbe’s Brisket, now through Thursday, August 3. To learn more about this campaign and to donate, click here.
