Chairman Sam Graves Speaks with MBUFA Members at June 21 Quarterly Meeting
Thirty three members participated either in person or by phone for the June 21 Quarterly Meeting in Washington, D.C. New Members APTA, ClearRoad, Inc., Illinois Department of Transportation and Washington State Transportation Commission were welcomed as new Members.

Norma Ortega, MBUFA Board Member and Chief Financial Officer of CalTrans gave an update on the California Road Charge Pilot, Maureen Bock, OreGo Program Director provided updates on the conference in Salem, Oregon on September 18-20, 2017, and Ted Bristol led a discussion with Shirley Ybarra and Susan Binder on the potential proposals in a Trump Infrastructure Plan.

Afternoon meetings included briefing Senate Environment and Public Works Staff on the current status of the STSFA pilots. Moving from the Senate to the House, Jack Ruddy, Legislative Director to Chairman Sam Graves, Highways and Transit Subcommittee, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, spoke to the group about the distinct need to find solutions through these pilots. Chairman Graves also reinforced how important these pilots will be to the future funding of transportation in the nation.

The following day, several Members joined Adrian Moore, MBUFA Board Vice President for Education, for a Strategic Planning Session to help position MBUFA to focus on member priorities in the next several years.

Quarterly Meeting Set for September 19 in Salem, Oregon

Mark your calendars for the next MBUFA Meeting on September 19 in Salem, Oregon. MBUFA members will gather in conjunction with the Road Usage Charge Forum being held in that city from September 18 - September 20. 

Topics at the MBUFA meeting will include updates on pilots from the STSFA Grants, new legislation being considered on the issue of road charging, and an update on the New Zealand Study Tour expected in March of 2018. MBUFA Members will join a session to describe how Oregon is demonstrating the administrative system that supports the RUC operations. Further details will be available in the next several weeks and will be provided to all MBUFA Members.
