FROM MR. MILLER

We are excited to begin another quarter here at DIS! With the second quarter recently coming to an end you should have received your child's report card on Friday. If you did not receive a report card please contact the main office (440.835.5494).

Students Demonstrate Empathy:

Hi Everyone,

READ-A-THON FUNDRAISER UPDATE!
  • WAY TO GO!!  We have reached 25% of our goal - $5, 000!   The students have earned their donuts!  Our goal is to raise $20,000 by having the students get sponsors for them to read.
  • YOU NEED TO HAVE SPONSORS TO EARN MONEY.  Have you sponsored a DIS Student?  We are requesting that each student try to raise $40 in sponsors.
  • WHAT WILL THE MONEY RAISED GO TO? Funds raised with READ-A-THON will be used to better the technology resources at DIS, as well as be distributed amongst PTA committees.
  • The fundraiser runs thru February 2nd.
  • If you know of a business that would like to support the READ-A-THON they may click here.  Their business advertisement/logo could be seen over 25,000 times!  SPREAD THE WORD!
  • PLEASE ASSIST your student in getting sponsors and ENCOURAGE your students to articipate.  Raising money is difficult, when you can do it by getting kids to read, everyone wins!
  • Should you have any questions please contact Lori Negron at lmn4@wowway.com.
Our Star Players for the months of December & January are Joe McGrevey, Jill Minerd, Patrick Mahoney, Tyler Yarian and Rebecca Baker.  Joe, Jill, Patrick and Tyler are the custodial staff at DIS and they do an amazing job of helping PTA out with so many things that go above and beyond the call of duty.  Rebecca Baker, the brave assistant that help to clean out the PTA storage area!  THANK YOU ALL!

The vivarium (left) is being used by students working with their science teachers experimenting with soil.  If you are in the building visiting, check it out!

DIS's February PTA Meeting will be held Thursday, February 8th at DIS at 8:30AM.
Although it will be a morning meeting we will be going out in the evening.  Venue/Time to be announced.  We will keep you posted.
