CHURCH IN THE PARK THIS SUNDAY 10:30 AM
8:00 am service still at the Church 
We'll have a combined service at 10:30 am this Sunday, July 16 with All Saints Lutheran Church in the park at 19th and McArthur streets in Blue Springs at shelter #1 (just south of All Saints Church building.) Following the service there will be a potluck lunch. Please bring a simple cold plate to share. The 8 am service will take place as usual at the church.

NECESSITY PANTRY INGATHERING
This Sunday

hank you for supporting the Necessity Pantry, a joint outreach ministry of the Episcopal churches in eastern Jackson County.
This month's needs include canned fruit, canned tuna, disposable razors, toilet tissue, and L & XL Depends. A box will be available to collect items at the 10:30 am service at Blue Springs Park.
Monetary gifts are also always accepted and appreciated. Use the donation envelopes in the church pews. Your gift of just a dollar or two adds up quickly!

VBS NEXT WEEK
July 17 - 21, 2017; 9 am to Noon
All young people age 3 to 11 are invited to attend Vacation Bible School this summer July 17 to July 21 from 9 am to Noon.
The theme is
Do Good, Seek Peace and Go After It!
based on Psalm 34:14.
VBS will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lee's Summit. Cost for the week is $10 per child with a maximum of $20 per family. The class will promote the heroes of our faith with music, stories and crafts. Children will also enjoy snacks and play time together in fellowship.
Registration sheets are next to the Sunday School room down stairs.

MESSAGE FROM FR. DAVID
Wow, we are now well into summer with triple digit heat and all the activities that
energize families with outings and vacations and visitations.
Summer is also time for planning for times ahead in our program year. That is the
case with Resurrection. There are several projects underway to improve parish
building safety and maintain our parish infrastructure. Several of these projects
are not that noticeable but are important as our building gets older. I would like
to express my thanks to our Jr. Warden Les Woodward who has and continues to
work through a priority list of projects in, around, and all about our church
building and grounds. I would also like to thank our Safety Committee for helping
Les accomplish work that brings our building up to fire and safety codes for the
city. Some of these projects have included:
- Updating and replacing smoke alarms
- Replacing broken and missing ceiling tiles
- Fixing holes in ceilings where earlier repairs had been made
- Cleaning out storage rooms and organizing contents
- Placing a new "Episcopal Welcomes You" sign out by the road on R.D. Mize and our parking lot that replaces a sign long ago removed before having a paved parking lot
- Replacing electrical outlet receptacles that were outdated
- Removing the non-active pull stations for fire alarms in the undercroft hallway
- Replacing the sink and picina in the sacristy (special drain for left over consecrated items) that go directly to the ground and not the sewer system (thisTwas a big job)
- Thanks to the Lingrel's for replacing the carpeted floor in the sacristy with matching tile from the sanctuary.
There are other projects continuing as we address safety measures while church
services are happening and that will address the safety of our children and youth,
and the general safety of all folks when the church building is being used. Look for
more information to come in the next few weeks. Just a small challenge for you as
you ponder safety at church; take an inventory or do a scavenger hunt for the
following: f
ire extinguishers, the AED, First Aid Kit, church phones, and the appropriate
exit from any room you may enter.
Many thanks for the many folks helping to beautify and maintain our church
building and property!

FINDING FAITH THROUGH FICTION BOOK CLUB

Finding Faith Through Fiction Book Club will not meet in July. The next meeting will be at the church on Monday, August 7 at 7 pm to discuss the novel

A Welsh Benedictine monk living at Shrewsbury Abbey in western England, Brother Cadfael spends much of his time tending the herbs and vegetables in the garden-but now there's a more pressing matter. Cadfael is to serve as translator for a group of monks heading to the town of Gwytherin in Wales. The team's goal is to collect the holy remains of Saint Winifred, which Prior Robert hopes will boost the abbey's reputation, as well as his own. But when the monks arrive in Gwytherin, the town is divided over the request.
