Summer AWOL (Adventurous Women Out Late!)
Sat, Jul 15 | 6:30pm carpool from church
Join us for The Big Sick at Plaza Frontenac.  Of course we will go out for ice cream to chat about the movie afterwards! Please RSVP so we know to expect you! - Carmen Bumgarner [email protected] (314-330-0813)

The Big Sick is based on the real courtship of Kumail Nanjiani and his now-wife, Emily Gordon. Kumail's traditional Pakistani Muslim family is unhappy with his relationship with Emily, a White American. When Emily is waylaid by a mysterious illness, Kumail must take charge of the crisis with her parents, Beth and Terry, whom he barely knows.

Worship with Us this Week!
Join us this Sunday morning for Traditional Worship at 9:30am and/or Informal Worship at 11am when our scriptures will be Psalm 119:105-112 ('Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.') and Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 (The Parable of the Sower) with a sermon entitled Soil and Light. We need a place to be planted and then we need ongoing nurture in order to grow. Just being planted is not enough. Just sunlight and water aren't the only ingredients.

Reminder: This Sunday is our final Traditional Worship service with Barb Raedeke leading our music. She is leaving us after 15 years of ministry. We wish her Godspeed as she downshifts to work fewer hours at her home church in St Louis Hills and spends more time with her recently retired husband! [See the quote, joke and video link below - all in celebration of Barbara!]

Community

Young PUCCer Josie Duke is Annie in theOverdue Theatre Company's presentation of 'Annie' at the Olivet Community Center the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August!

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including "Tomorrow."

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations... and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Annie is the perfect family-friendly musical and an ideal show for a largely female cast. We hope to see you there!

You can buy tickets at the door or through Brown Paper Tickets. Ticket purchasers have the option to get tickets at will call or print them at home.

It's here again and it's going to be so much fun! During the week we will learn the music and story of the musical, Down by the Creekbank. We will create our scenery, make our costumes and learn the lessons of God's love for us. Stories around the campfire and outdoor fun will all be a part of this great adventure. There will be a special performance of the musical on Friday evening! The fee is $25.00 for the week. Any additional children in the family will pay $20.00 per child. The childcare after 12:30pm will pay additional childcare $20 each afternoon session; $100 for the week. We will explore God's great creation and how he loves each of us.

Make plans come on this adventure with us. Got friends? Bring them along!
