New Century Frisco Lions Club

Safest Place To Raise An Athlete
The Dallas Cowboys held a topping-off ceremony Tuesday for the new Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy Research at The Star, a 300,000-square-foot medical and health facility that is set to open April 2018.

The medical facility, which broke ground in June 2016, will include an imaging center, sports performance center program, urgent care center, outpatient rehabilitation, pharmacy and brain injury program. Read More...
In 2014,  The Dallas Cowboys and  Omni Hotels & Resorts  announced the development and partnership of a new hotel at the then, future site of the Cowboys World Headquarters in Frisco. Nine months after groundbreaking, the Omni Frisco celebrated a "Topping Out" ceremony on its third floor pool deck. Guests can now enjoy a hotel stay at The Star. The 300 room Omni Frisco Hotel will open on Monday, July 24, 2017.
UNT's Applied Physiology lab set to be North America's first Collaborating Center for the International Federation of Sports Medicine
The UNT  Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation (KHPR) is in the final approval stage to house the first Collaborating Center of Sports Medicine in the United States or Canada, part of the  International Federation of Sports Medicine's (FIMS) global network. Once FIMS representatives complete a site visit and UNT's application is approved, KHPR's Applied Physiology Laboratory will display the Olympic Rings as part of the collaboration with FIMS. FIMS is the only sports science organization allowed to use the Olympic Rings imagery. Read More...

Governmental Affairs Committee Meeting
The Governmental Affairs Committee will not have meetings during the summer; however, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce will continue to monitor the Texas Legislature Special Session and advocate for a healthy business environment in North Texas.

What's Being Built on the Corner of?
As a business owner or citizen of Frisco, you will find the Geographic Information Services (GIS) Mapping Portal a very useful tool. Through these interactive maps, you are able to see zoning and land use, traffic volume, properties for sale and lease, as well as construction development. In addition, you will be able to see public art, sports venues, and information about restaurants in Frisco. Find the GIS Mapping Portal HERE.
Serve on a City Board?
Interested in getting more involved with your city? The City of Frisco is looking for volunteers to serve on several city boards and commissions. This year, applications are only accepted online, via the new portal HERE.

Opportunities include serving on the city's Board of Adjustment/Construction Board of Appeals, the Community Development Corporation, the Downtown Advisory Board and more. Click the 'Vacancies' tab on the online portal to see the full list.

To qualify, you must have lived in Frisco for at least one year prior to applying and must be a qualified registered voter. Applications will be accepted through July 31, 2017.

Frisco Rotary Farmers Market
The Frisco Rotary Farmers Market meets every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (or sell out). The Farmers Market is located in the parking lot behind the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.  Open May through October 21, 2017.
For Seniors
Senior citizens are invited to hear Mayor Jeff Cheney speak at the Senior Service Center on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 8:30 AM. This event, brought to you by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce's Senior Service Alliance will be held at the  Event Room of the Frisco Senior Center, located at 6670 Moore Street in Frisco. Giving Back
College Hunks Hauling Junk has recently partnered with Feeding Children Everywhere and is pledging to help end childhood hunger.  For each and every job performed across the system of approximately 100 locally owned and operated franchises, College Hunks Hauling Junk donates two nutritious meals.  To date, College Hunks Hauling Junk has already donated more than 151,000 meals with a goal for 2017 of 300,000 in all -  one million healthy meals donated in the next three years.
