Dear  ,

To Be a Volunteer
To be a volunteer, it takes...
Generosity, a willingness to give your time to others
Understanding, because their lives might be very different from your own
Empathy, an ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and feel what they must feel
Compassion, to truly care about making someone else's life better
Patience, because the process doesn't always go as smoothly as it might
Dedication, to stick with the project and see it through
~author unknown~

You've shown these qualities and so much more, so thank you for all that you do.

Big T hanks!

This is a personal thank you to all of you that promptly sent your June and any outstanding tutoring hours to the office.  I received them in time for their inclusion in the Secretary of State end-of-year report.  As you know it is important that we accurately reflect the work accomplished by staff and all of our volunteers and this could not be done without your support.  For those of you that received a special request from me, consider this a double-dose of thanks for your prompt response. Reading by Design - 2017 Summer Reading  Challenge
Designed for children, teens, and adults

The goal is to read EVERY DAY - any reading counts - books, graphic novels, magazines, newspapers, e-books, audiobooks, even websites.

Once you register - in person - at the Dundee Library or the Randall Oaks Library, you will receive your reading log and a bookmark.

There is a prize for each week that you read every day; just bring in your log at the end of every week to get your prize. If you can't come into the library that week, you can get your prize the next time you come.  When you complete the final week, bring your reading log into the library to receive your book.

Go Bilingual has ended for the summer.  The program's fall start date is Wednesday, September 13, 2017.

Would you help spread the word about our need for tutors?
98
Adults Remain On Our Wait List

There are 98  potential learners currently on our waiting list. These learners need to be tested before they can enter the program, and are not ready to be matched. We have a different group of learners who are tested and ready to be matched.

Matching these learners is our priority as they have been waiting the longest for a tutor. We do everything we can to match our tutors and learners as fast as possible. We must find a pair that has the same availability, and this often slows down the process.

If you are currently waiting for a learner, we are working on setting up a match meeting as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

If you have specific questions please contact Jody.

August 2017 training dates are here!  Please share with your friends and family who might be interested in becoming a volunteer tutor!
