Reflections on Erie's Water Photography Workshop

Do you love photography? Are you interested in learning more about the Erie Canal and its role in Syracuse and Central New York? Then you'll love Reflecting on the Historic Erie Canal, a workshop by photographer Wilson Cummer. Participants will have a chance to explore the parts of Downtown Syracuse once occupied by the Erie Canal, all while capturing their own visions of history via cell phone or camera. The workshop includes supportive criticism of participants' photos and lunch will be provided. Reflections on the Historic Erie Canal is part of the Erie Canal bicentennial program Reflections on Erie's Waters - The Erie Canal in New York's History and Future.

The 33rd Annual Candlelight Series continues this week with the Symphoria's full orchestra. The concert will be opening with Sammy Award-winning String Bee Duo, covering everything from Celtic to Blues to Standards. Come join in on the fun as the sounds of live music fill Armory Square! The concert takes place where South Franklin meets West Jefferson.

Come browse the large selection of fresh, seasonal vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, cheeses, baked goods, flowers, plants, handcrafted items and more at the Downtown Farmer's Market this Tuesday. While you're at the Market, check out the cooking demonstrations from The Food Bank of Central New York from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Food Bank of Central New York will be at the Market every Tuesday through September.

Not only does the market offer great produce to choose from, but you can have lunch there too! Check out the delicious lunch options, including Downtown's own Byblos!


PS: Each week, farmers donate an item to the Downtown Committee to use in a free drawing. Visitors are encouraged to try to win the "Item of the Week" by filling out an entry form at the Information Booth, all we need is your name, number and email address. Wellness Wednesday

There are two more opportunities to participate in Wellness Wednesday in Clinton Square! Classes are free and open to the public. A description of the classes is offered below:
 
Sunrise Yoga 
6:30 am - 7:30 am: 
Stretch and energize with a sunrise Vinyasa Flow yoga workout, appropriate for all fitness levels. This class emphasizes linking breathing to movement, and poses are seamlessly woven together. Please bring your own yoga mat.

HIIT Your Strength  
12:15 pm - 12:45 pm: 
This 30-minute express class combines intervals of strength and stretching exercises to target the whole body.

Urban Bootcamp  
5:30 pm - 6:15 pm: 
A functionally-based strength and conditioning program. Some of the classes will be broken up into two groups - civilians and Army recruits. The Army recruits will receive a brief introduction to team building and what to expect during basic training. Other classes will combine both the recruits and other participants in a fun, group-exercise environment.
 
Participants are asked to bring their own water, sneakers and workout clothing. If you have any questions, call Metro Fitness at 315-426-8917. Please note, the final Wellness Wednesday session of the season is Wednesday, July 26.

Enjoy an array of visual and performing art events

ArtsWeek, a week-long program of visual and performing arts events celebrating Arts and Culture throughout Downtown Syracuse, kicks off next Friday. Events take place from July 22 to July 30, 2017 with a number of activities, from live music and dance, to storytelling and book sales, to art exhibits and crafts. ArtsWeek has something for everyone to enjoy, including the AmeriCU Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival in Columbus Circle. Stay tuned for more information! State Tower Now Leasing for Fall, 2017
63 luxury units with unique layouts available

You could live in the tallest building in Central New York! Pioneer Companies is transforming the upper 14 floors of the State Tower Building to include 63 high-end residential units, expected to be complete by October. The State Tower Building was established in 1927. Pioneer Companies, purchased the building in March 2016 with a vision to restore the iconic structure to its original glory.
