ALERT! APPLES:
Over the next couple of months, with the exception of red delicious, will be extremely challenging to procure. Washington is the main area, but California will start packing in August before eastern areas in late-August/early September.
GRAPES:
California has begun harvesting. Quality is excellent.
LEAF LETTUCES:
This market has remained flat, overall. Although lettuce demand has picked up, romaine as well as all leaf items continue to be low in demand. Overall quality has been good on romaine; weights are 35-40 pounds. Green and red leaf as well as butter continue to have good availability and quality as well. Expect good supplies available in Santa Maria as well as the Salinas valley throughout this week, much the same as last week.
PINEAPPLES:
Supplies from the tropics are light and looks to be so through July and August. This is a planed lighter production period. Shippers do this as to not compete with domestic summer stone fruit and melon production.
