County Executive Kittleman's release on the appointment mentioned Hejeebu's considerable experience with special education programs including his work with the Howard County Transition Commission for Youth with Disabilities and his involvement with special education programs as a parent and advocate for his son.
Kittleman went on to say, "Mr. Heejebu brings the right experience and commitment to the position. His personal experience with special education, understanding of the HCPSS budget and business background uniquely qualifies him to bring a fresh perspective to the Board of Education."
Hejeebu will serve for the remainder of former Board of Education member Christine O'Connor's term through the end of 2018. O'Connor resigned just after former Superintendent Renee Foose announced her retirement earlier this year.
